Hawley vows continued fight for middle class

By Howard B. Owens

Press release:

“This week continues state leader’s assault on law-abiding, middle-class families. Last night was free college tuition for illegal aliens pushed by New York City liberals – a $27 million expense on the backs of taxpayers.

“Last week, Gov. Cuomo’s administration rolled out free tablets for prison inmates, - a luxury we should be working to provide for school children and libraries before convicts.

“While downstate liberal elites are fighting for convicts and illegals, I’ll be fighting even harder for the middle-class. These are the hardworking men and women we should be working to protect, not illegal aliens and criminals.”

I get so tired of how politicians are so smart but honestly they look like jack @#&*% especially when they say things like this. NYS IS NOT BUYING THE TABLETS! Read and/or watch the news but listen for a change. I almost wish NYS was buying them because convicts are going to pay ridiculous amounts to do anything on the tablet.

Also watching these politicians who don’t contribute ride the coattails of other politicians making it look like everything is their idea.

I so tired of people who think they are smart enough to insert words and/or meanings into other's remarks or comments, that are not there, or intended. Hawley did NOT say or imply that NYS was "BUYING THE TABLETS". These finger pointers need to be looking in a mirror when they do so.

wrong Brian, the article does state that NYS has "rolled out" free tablets for inmates. To an average reader (me) that does imply NYS buying them and handing them out.

“Last week, Gov. Cuomo’s administration rolled out free tablets for prison inmates, - a luxury we should be working to provide for school children and libraries before convicts.”

What does this mean then, Brian? Elucidate, please. The program isn’t about school children and libraries. No one is taking anything from school children or libraries, to give to “illegal aliens and criminals.” Jeez!

“…we should be working to provide…”

“…we should be working to protect…”

What the heck is stopping him? What’s he doing about anything, besides churning out divisive, hateful dog whistle press releases?

Cheryl, I agree with you completely. I’m sick of idiots thinking everyone else is an idiot, and will buy whatever they try to sell.

I wonder how the electric bill will be affected at prisons due the the recharging of the 51,000 tablets? The taxpayers WILL have to pay for that. Just saying...

Once again, Assembly Member Hawley, the king of the press release, goes on and on about how bad things are in Albany.

He has been in office for a long time. It seems to me every time he issues one of these releases, he is giving himself a self job evaluation. And I think we would all agree that Hawley gets a failing grade.

Instead of bashing the other side, maybe he could work together with people for positive change. But instead, he insists on trashing the opposition, getting nothing done in Albany, then coming back at election time and wanting to do the same thing all over again for another term.

Hey, Steve, maybe it is time for you to go and your replacement could actually get something done.
