Peter, been paying attention to the Verizon strike? Kind of the heart of the issue. All kinds of tech jobs no longer needed because more and more tech can fix itself.

There is a lot more to my job than just repairs. Setup, education of users, replacement. I manage 6 different sites around Rochester with minor help from the Syracuse tech who has 3 sites.

Servers will need to be cleaned. Cables will fail. Users will make mistakes. And new technology will be adapted. I am not worried at all. Just have to keep educating myself on the constant changes that come down the line.

For the record I want to thank the professors in the Computer Systems and Network Technologies program for their knowledge and support. My new career is super rewarding and interesting.

The program is offered at GCC and if you have basic computer knowledge, you can leave after two years with in demand skills that will earn you a good living.
