The Batavia Animal Hospital is going to be much bigger by the fall.
The plan by the clinic's owners, Perry Veterinary Clinic, is to tear down the existing building and build a new one just behind the current location at 3699 W. Main St. Road.
The hospital will expand from 3,000 square feet to more than 6,300 square feet.
Architect Steve Tanner, of Clark Patterson, described the new facility as "state of the art."
Among the high-tech features will be a radiology system that will allow vets in Perry's other facilities, or from home, to view x-rays and consult with the vets in Batavia, according to Bob Bausch, practice manager for Perry.
The new facility will also have what Bausch said is now standard practice in vet facilities -- a comfort room, which is a room where owners can be with their pets who are to be euthanized.
Bausch said the current facility has a hard time accommodating two doctors and the business has grown so much since it was opened in 1961 that there's "hardly room to move," he said.
The new facility will accommodate three to four doctors and Perry expects to add four to five new additional support staff.
The business will also include a new clinic to dispense pharmaceuticals for livestock.
The current hospital will remain open and in operation during the construction of the new facility behind it.
Town of Batavia Planning Board members gave initial approval to the site plan Tuesday.
Perry acquired Batavia Animal Hosptial from former owner Dr. Raymond Pray in October.

They were already far more expensive than anyone before the buyout. They must be downright crazy on their prices now!
I have been going to batavia
I have been going to batavia for over 15 years.. thier prices have actually decreased since perry took over. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and its cheaper for the office visit now and shots.. I had my cat fixed and it was 20 bucks cheaper than in the past.

I agree with Bob, I was pleasantly surprised when I took my Dog there recently, the bill was about 15% less than I anticpated

Please keep in mind ... love the old staff. My family has been going there for 40+ years.
My recent experience: I put a dog down at another facility for $86. A friend had exact same situation, exact same procedure (including buriel) and it cost almost $300 at Batavia.
So, no, I've not experienced a price increase, but this situation was a big concern to me. Was going on the typical, the bigger and fancier the place gets, the higher the prices.
Again, always good experience. Just trying to be $$$ conscious w/o losing standard of care. I wish the new facility the best!

I have used Batavia Animal Hospital for about 10 years and I really like Doctor Westfall and Doctor Cassimuse I too have found their prices have skyrocketed in the last couple months, I breed my dogs and have taken my moms in for xrays prior to birth and take my puppies in for health checks. I was in there one week and the price for a litter of puppies was alittle higher than normal 4 weeks later I went back in for another litter and the price was over 100.00 more even the staff had to second guess the amount because it was so much higher they had me leave without paying the bill so they could research it the next day by sure enough the new price was correct, they raised their prices that quick without even notifying anyone. With a new vet in town on Harvester with the prices being 1/3 of Batavia Animal you would think they would keep their prices close to the old prices so people don't leave. I for one did walk away from them even though I do not want to, I can not afford the price they are charging anymore.
We had our second cat spayed
We had our second cat spayed about 3 weeks ago. It was easily twice the price of having the first one done about 2 years ago. My jaw dropped when I saw the bill.
