I doubt it Doug since, he was (alledgely) smoking crack cocaine and drinking while driving. Curious on how you think the suspect was in a miserable amount of pain? Maybe from being dragged through the window, when he refused to exit? Do not understand why the Medina PD Chief called them off the chase, when they were right behind the suspect.

John, I've seen felony stops and people pulled from vehicles by the police. They do not exit the vehicle being handled with kids gloves. They're usually yanked out by their hair or whatever the cops can get their hands on and subdued as quickly as possible, and for good reason, especially after fleeing from the police for so long.

Their main objectives are to stop the person from fleeing again by overwhelming the suspect by whatever force necessary and then restraining them with handcuffs That means the suspect is going to be removed from the vehicle by force and planted face down on the pavement with a knee in the middle of the back, probably a knee on the side of their head and arms twisted up behind their back with a wrist lock for good measure. Being taken into custody after running from the police is not a pleasant experience. I sure never want to find out what it feels like.

There's no mention in this news report of the suspect being dragged through a window so I had no way of knowing that when I made my comment about being him being in considerable pain. I made the comment after it was reported that the suspect is in custody. Are you following along now? :^]

Maybe they called off the chase because they knew who the driver was? Sometimes it's better to let the person think they're home free so that they slow down. Chasing them just places too many other people in danger. Luckily the van ran out of gasoline and ended his mad dash before a crash.

Hum... I thought there was a fire actually when I heard/saw all the sirens go by my house. They were FLYING down Bloomingdale. I didn't see anything when I left for work a few minutes afterward though.

Sorry Doug, if you did not see my sarcasm in the comment. Doug, I am well aware on what happens. BTW, I do know why they called off Medina PD since, I know the officers involved. The spikes probably helped too.
