Photo: Town of Pembroke honors two new Eagle Scouts

Jacob M. Finkney and Gabriel L. Frey were honored Wednesday by the Town of Pembroke Board with a proclamation recognizing their achievement in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Supervisor Ed Mileham presented the proclamations.

Agreed. It's been a regret of mine that I never got my Eagle. Only a few merit badges and a service project away. The trouble was, I turned 16 and got a drivers license.

Even so, Jason - - the years you DID spend in scouting taught you things that you would NOT have learned otherwise. Being a scout is like being a Marine - - once a Boy Scout, ALWAYS a Boy Scout - - - and that's a WONDERFUL thing.

I know Jacob personally and he is a fine young man. He has good values that he may have learned in the scouts or from his family. He is a fine example of what it is to be a scout. He will go far in life.
