Today's Poll: Are you spending more or less money on holiday shopping?

By Howard B. Owens

I keep spending to a minimum every year. People treat themselves to nice things all year long so I'd rather do something nice for someone than spend money on them. All of my nieces and nephews are in their 20's and 30's so I don't have to buy things for them anymore. I would rather fix a broken washing machine or a badly infected computer for someone or help them make dinner. I think those things mean more and are more useful than gifts that people really don't want.

I'm with you Doug, the act of helping someone out has mare value than something off the shelf at the store....it truly an expression of Holiday and Christmas.

A few years back, our family decided to cut back. We get together at Thanksgiving, draw names, and just buy for that person. We know that the little ones will get more, thats a personal decision. Then Christmas, we all get together, have a nice meal, and spend the day together. Less pressure.....more fun!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!
