Today's Poll: The Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

By Howard B. Owens

How can anyone not say The Beatles, they have had more songs redone by other artist than any other composers, have generated movies, books and of course try and ride an elevator or go grocery shopping without hearing at least one Beatle Tune.

There music transcended Rock, blues, country and often broke new ground at the time. Their influences were shared by the likes of Clapton, The Who and Bob Dylan.

Not to mention how many artist that they have inspired.

It's kind of like asking chocolate or peanutbutter.... Yeah, chocolate is the right answer, but there's really not a wrong answer. ;-)

Paul and Mick should record an album together -- the Reeses of Rock.

I used to go around as a child singing, "Henry the 8th" ... drove my family crazy. :)

I like all kinds of music. I really like eclectic bands, like well... The Band. But I'm with you Mark, I have a special love for the mid 60's to early 70's (pre-disco). I always bring up Hermit's Hermits as a joke when these conversations start, but I did actually like them, Freddy and the Dreamers too. I could never choose between the Beatles and Stones. Innovators and genius in different ways, both had eclectic moments and both blazed trails. Both made some great, enduring, timeless songs. Who can forget the water-skiing behind the river boat to Satisfaction in Apocolypse Now.
