History - yes, revisionist history - no. Inclusive history - yes, selective history - no. History with all it's accomplishments AND warts - yes, politically correct history - no.

Yes "BUT" the history taught in public schools is a candy coated version of half truth. I remember history class very well and what I've learned since then makes me realize just how sugary it really was.

Jeff, I don't have anything to add but pose this question: Where in the national public school system is it even possible to learn history that has not been revised with a PC (liberal/progressive) slant?

Even in the most rural of communities the state interferes with what curriculum is taught, how it is taught, and what is NOT to be taught.

There are definitely teachers who made history come alive for me. They are the ones who captured my interest and made history a life long interest.

Then there were the others. Memorize all the presidents. Dates of birth and death. Dates they served in the Whitehouse. The names of all their wives. Three accomplishments of each president. Oh overwhelming joy. I'm not good with memorizing. Exercises like that were torture. Blah, blah blah.

History is important. How it is taught is just as important.
