Today's Poll: Should it be legal to gamble online?

I am very happy to get the benefit from the revenues the county and state get from casinos, even thou i don't contribute. It is your choice whether to gamble or not, i realize it can be addictive [that is why i do not participate] That said, i do not agree with online gambling because all revenue disappears into cyber-space. If online gambling was prohibited [which i don't believe is possible[ the gamblers would have to stay local and keep the money here with the state, county and local bookies. Shop Local!!

Eric, the revenue vanishes into cyberspace? You mean, just like money from state run casinos? I really do have to agree with what Jason said. Why do so many people think they have the right to tell me whether I can gamble online or not? They must be the same group of people that think they have the same right to tell someone that they can't smoke pot and look down their nose at people who don't share the same religious "VALUES" *cough...cough*

In my experience, I've found that most people who try to run other people's lives do so because they do not have control, in some way or other, of their OWN lives. My philosophy is, " You run your life, I'll run mine. "

Doug, I KNOW, but we do get some local benefit, as little as it might be, there is even a little trickle down effect from a local bookie!I don't want to be told what to do either. I also remember how our lottery money was supposed to go toward education. I stand by my comment of "shop local"

Jason & Doug, I totally agree with the both of you. That being said, I already have been enjoying on-line gambling legally for the past month. I'm a horse racing fan and Western OTB has a web site set up specifically for on-line gambling of horse racing(both harness & thoroughbreds). If anyone is interested in checking it out, go to BataviaBets.com and then click on the link. It gives a lot of information on how to set up an account, how & what ways you can deposit money into your account and other FAQ's. If you enjoy horse racing and don't feel comfortable going to an OTB branch or parlor(or for privacy matters), this is the way to go. The site gives you the odds, drivers/riders of the horses, the type of bets and dollar amount you can make and you can watch the races LIVE. As soon as the results are official, if you win, you can see the amount that you won and it is automatically deposited into your account. It also deducts the amount you bet as soon as you confirm your bet or bets. It's a pretty neat set-up and the site is easy to navigate.
