Today's Poll: Should police publish mug shots of men arrested for soliciting prostitutes?

By Howard B. Owens

Why not? Soliciting, and promoting prostitution is a crime, as is sex offenses against children, driving while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, murder, etc.; so why should this be treated any different?

I dont think ANY mugshots for whatever crime is committed should be published upon ARREST.

Now if you want to publish them to the public after a CONVICTION then go for it.

Soliciting a Prostitute is a misdemeanor, sex offenses against children, murder stc are FELONIES.

I do not recall seeing mugshots posted for DWI/DUI ever unless there was a higher crime associated with the incident.

You mentioned a vast range of offenses Richard with vast differences in magnitude, if every lessor offense resulted in Mugshot postings we would be reading picture books not news or opinion. Just saying

I agree with Debbie Pugliese. Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, NOT "street court" either.. and if "stings" are used, then the so called female police officer used as the prostitute should be charged with impersonation!! The general public is charged if they use a different name when arrested so, why not when the cops do the same thing?? Oh I forgot THEY ARE ALL ABOVE THE LAW, LIKE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS THINK THEY ARE TOO!!

That is about the most ridiculous statement that I have seen posted on this site in a long while. Thank you for the chuckle John

I do think though that arrests shouldnt be posted at all. Saying that someone was arrested is ok but names and faces should be kept out until after a trial and conviction. it would eliminate some things like the Albion guy arrested for child porn who lost his job and reputation, then charges were dropped (vacated) but he was unable to get his job back.

Just seems fair to me.

Women have been selling their lady parts for 5000 years of human history. Making laws against it does not make them stop. Prostitution is the oldest human profession.

So if i take a women on a date, and i buy her dinner for $50, and take her to a show for $20, and buy her some flowers for $30, then she sleeps with me at the end, thats called a date.

If i tell the women that i find her physically attractive and we come to an agreement, between consenting adults, that she would love to share herself with me, for the same $100 dollars spent above. Now im a criminal, and so is she?

People need to stop living in the moral dark ages. Gay marriage, Internet porn, prostitution, and drugs are here to stay. You can make all the laws you want against them, people are going to continue to do it/them because its HUMAN NATURE.

Women want to sell it
Men want to buy it

Not to mention the fact that places where prostitution is legal have way less sex crime, because the creepy, unattractive people that would normally rape someone or molest a child, have a legal outlet for their natural human urge to have sex.

But sure yeah ok, lets keep making criminals out of women that like money, and men that like sex, because that working out well. LOL

That is about the most ridiculous statement that I have seen posted on this site in a long while.

It was NOT meant as a chuckle & if you think that way, I hope that you are never wrongly accused of a crime & have to talk your way out of it on your own !!
How can anyone be accused of soliciting a prostitute if she was never a hooker & is really a cop just posing as one.. I'll bet there have been guys cruising down the street that have stopped & tried to pick up a woman or asked those hooker looking type women if they wanna go somewhere for a drink & have gotten arrested for it because the city/village coffers are low & the police don't have enough money to buy coffee & doughnuts for the next month. So they go onto a restaurant & expect a free meal, & usually GET IT for them & their girlfriends ... But whatever I write here is not because I want to debate with anyone, so don't bother because that is mostly why people like you are here, it is sometimes called a "captive audience" & I am not one of them dweeb's that has to be RIGHT all the time!

I voted no....rather see child molesters..serious crime committing ppl on the loose and animal cruelty don't adopt to these people pics....some lonely men use their services...some of those lonely men are veterans....if this is a sin its between the two consenting adults and God....go after real criminals
