As a baseball purest, I want pitchers (all players) to bat. And there have been plenty of good hitting pitchers over the years. There have also been pretty weak hitting but great defensive players over the years.
I played the game (baseball and softball, both fastpitch and slowpitch) for 45 years and have played without a DH, with a DH, and even with an EH. It's all good, but it's at its best when the players on the field are the players digging in the batter's box.
