Today's Poll: Is the United States the greatest country in the world?
Could it be that 1 of 4 responders are foreigners?
I REALLY hope so Frank, otherwise this country is "fricked"
Where the hell do these 200 people think the grass is greener???
I don't think so Frank, immigrants come here because they've been told there is a better life than where they are. they are probably right too for everything is free and paid for by the working American.
The immigrant no longer has to assimilate, no longer has to become an American in order to reap the benefits.
This country is so far politically correct that we now have driver license applications in several languages.
We've come a long way but I'm afraid we are going in the wrong direction.
The brain washing I received as a child has been broken. America is not what I was taught it is.
If you think I should leave if I don't like it, keep your head in the sand and Trust your superiors as they will protect you.
Did the four of you read the Pew poll results? Our poll results are the mirror opposite of the rest of the country.
I too am saddened by what our country has become. Our core, our way of life, our fundamental principles - THAT'S the great and powerful country we're suppose to be. THAT'S what our soldiers have sacrificed so much for. THAT'S what our fore fathers and their fore fathers broke their backs building. That is what we as a people need to bring back.
No... I don't think our country is the greatest at all.. and that puts a nasty, disgusting taste in my mouth and a weight on my heart for saying..
Our country, The United States of America, was profoundly great before and I have hope that WE can make it just as great again.
The Pew Poll had another choice. ".....not the greatest but one of the greatest.". That option not offered in this poll. This poll looks for a stark yes or no. In that case, I will vote yes. There were naysayers from 1776 to today.
If not the USA, what other country is the greatest?
I think I need a definition of greatest........
Name one other country who gives it's citizens all kinds of rights only to have the government trample on those rights, with a big cheesy grin on their face while doing it?
At least when our government is about to give it to us up the wazoo, they have the decency, sometimes, to use a lube!
The poll reflects how Americans have changed. The older demographic remembers when we were considered superior in the world, while the younger have known nothing but selfish, partisan government intruding on every aspect of their lives. Older Americans remember WWII with pride and patriotism, while the following generations spit on returning VietNam veterans. Citizens of the 1950's paid a top tax rate of 90% on their income, while the greed of today's wealthy is woefully apparent when they bitch about 35%, even with all the deductions, write-offs and credits.
Unfortunately, the global economy has evened the playing field, and we are not head and shoulders above the rest of the world. We consume excessively, and manufacture next to nothing. We also tend to react to things in a selfish manner. We only look at how things affect us, and tend to disregard others.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, I just would like to see our great nation become more unified and less "me" oriented. And I would like to see a return to the pride the greatest generation felt towards our country. Sadly, patriotism is usually exhibited only on holidays like today, and not lived out daily.
God Bless the USA!
My country, the one I defended, was lost when the electorate was stupid enough to reelect a "Constitutional Lawyer" who has no understanding of the Constitution.
July 4th is a day or remembrance for me. To remember what this country once was, and hopefully will be again.
