I was just wondering, why is Homeland Security involved in this? As in, ... execution of the search warrant along with ... officers with Homeland Security...

As an (interesting?) aside, in looking up what Homeland Security's 'responsibilities' are, I came across the following, from HS's own website http://www.dhs.gov/blog/2009/06/08/department%E2%80%99s-five-responsibi…

"Fulfilling our mission also means securing our borders—our Southern border, our Northern border, and our air and sea ports. ..."

Does that mean that Homeland Security ISN'T concerned with securing our country's EASTERN border? Uh... HS, that would be the one between Canada and Alaska. We do still own Alaska, don't we?

Elba, NY? They have to, because of what al qeada did to this country, the have to arm themselves in fear of being murdered, there's nothing wrong with that. So when did we win the war on drugs?

Ed,
I could be wrong, because I really ain't that bright, however, I don't think there is much betwean Alaska and Canada ~ and that would be our WEST coast! Unless I missed that day in biology class!!

Ed might live in Alaska, and if that's the case, he would consider that US/Cdn. border to be the eastern one...

But I also questioned their taking part. Maybe they are branching out to other law-enforcement duties now. (Wonder if it has anything to do with their purchase order for enough hollow-point ammo to put 5 rounds into each and every American man, woman, and child... Jes' askin'!)

Gary, you are correct that Alaska is on our west coast. But, the Alaskan border with another country is its (Alaska's) eastern border.
As for how much there is between AL and Canada, not much - only 1500+ miles (which is longer than from Boston, MA to Miami, FL.
Quite a big 'hole', if you aren't securing it.

OK Ed ~ that makes sense!
I do agree we need to secure ALL of our bourders!
Bring solders home from forgien lands and secure our borders!

As far as the story goes border patloe folk may have been involved because there may be illegal allians (aka undocumented imigrants) involved........

Perhaps the Drug sales were related to financing terrorism or Illegal alien activity ie. smuggling across boarders either people or drugs. The bust happened in Elba, which could very possibly be related to aliens as Gary Spoke of.
