  Edward J. Smith II, age 74, of Perry passed away on Wednesday February 17, 2016 peacefully at his home.  Edward was born in Philadelphia, PA, on February 4, 1942 a son of the late Edward J. Smith Sr. and Madeline (Murphy) Smith-Dieterle.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Edward Smith III, a sister Kathleen Joslyn and brothers, Wayne and George Smith.

Ed was a graduate of Perry Central School. He worked many years for Star Market, starting out in Perry and eventually in Brockport where he was the store manager. He retired from Sewer Specialty Services Co., Inc. in Leicester. He was a member of the Perry VFW and Vets Club in Perry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being out in nature, working in his vegetable and flower gardens, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his companion of over 30 years, Susie Blythe of Warsaw; a son William Smith of Lafayette, CO.; step-children Rhonda Subject of Rochester and Christopher Blythe of Silver Springs, sisters, Cherol (Gene) Shoup, Marge (Richard) Downs and Madeline Smith all of Perry; a grandson Nicholas Subject, along with many nieces, nephews and good friends.

There will be no prior calling hours.  Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Ed will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery in Silver Springs.
