Mr. Stephen W. Maier, Jr.

Mr. Stephen W. Maier, Jr., “KZ2R” of Medina, passed away at his home on Monday, May 23, 2016.

Mr. Maier was born in Medina, September 8, 1946, a son of the late Stephen W. and Helen (Stefaniak) Maier, Sr. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1963, he married the former Marlene Quintern on December 30, 1967. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the church board of which he was a past president.

Active in the community, Mr. Maier was a member of the Sacred Heart Club and a Past President of Medina Area Jaycees. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a hunter, fisherman, camper and golfer. He enjoyed poker and participated in poker tournaments and, participated in pool, bowling, and softball leagues. HAM Radio was his passion. He was a life member of the American Radio Relay League, a member and Past President of the Orleans County Amateur Radio Club, and participated in many HAM Radio contests worldwide.

Mr. Maier was employed by Eastman Kodak Company for 36 years in multiple roles including software engineering, retiring in 2004.

Survivors include four children, Stephen W. (Lisa) Maier, III, Thomas Bradley (Kim) Maier; Peter Eric (Jeanine) Maier and Rachel Joy (Shaun) Coolbaugh; 8 grandchildren, Stephen W., IV, Brian, Erik, Dylan, Trevor, Jacob, Hannah and Tabitha; a brother, James (late Darlene) Maier and his sister, Phyllis (Dr. John) Ganter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene, on March 12, 2011.

Friends may call on Wednesday (2­4, 7­9) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1212 West Avenue, Medina. Interment will be in Millville Cemetery.
