Francis "Fran" J. Davis

East Bethany – Mr. Francis “Fran” J. Davis, 63, of East Bethany, longtime mechanic at Dan’s Auto & Tire in Batavia, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Davis was born March 23, 1953 in Batavia, a son of the late Edward Davis, Sr. and Mary Catherine Tibbs Davis.

A member of Mary Immaculate Parish in East Bethany, Fran was a member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, the Batavia Rod & Gun Club and the Sportsmans Coonhunters Association. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and camping. His greatest joy was being in attendance for his grandson's sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Melody “Mel” A. Black Davis, whom he married August 10, 1974; his sons, Jed (Jessica) Davis of Batavia and the late Benjamin J. Davis who passed away on January 29, 2001; two grandsons, Cole and Andrew Davis of Batavia; his siblings, Ellen (late Bill) Kingdon of Batavia,  Edward (late Rita) Davis, Jr. of Arizona, Cathy (David) Van Galio of Buffalo and the late Joseph Davis; his godson, Matthew Pietrzykowski of East Bethany and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia.  He will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.
