Mary Ellen (Lynch) Barnard

Byron –Mary Ellen (Lynch) Barnard, 88, of Byron, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

Mary was born October 25, 1927 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Judson and Elsie Anderson MacConnell.

She was a member of Byron Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Hesperus Chapter #823 and the Byron Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mary loved listening to Lawrence Welk, playing cards and sitting on the front porch of her Byron home. She enjoyed playing golf and traveling with her late husband Les, whom she married on July 11, 1980. She traveled extensively including trips to Italy, Spain, India and Hawaii. Mary worked for over 30 years at General Electric in Brockport.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, Lester J.  Barnard, who passed away on April 5, 2013 and her brother, Robert (Jean) MacConnell.

Mary is survived by her sons, Robert (Sue) Lynch of Titusville, Florida and Twilly (Pam Boshart) Lynch of Byron; two grandchildren, Mallory J. (Chris) Scopano of Bergen and Shannon K. Lynch of Port St. John, Florida; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Kerri Lynch of Port St. John, Florida; her step-son, Norm (Sharon) Barnard of El Paso, Texas; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law including MaryAnn (Bud) Alexander of Byron and Arlene Boldt, of South Byron. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Byron Presbyterian Church, 6293 West Main, Byron.
