Mrs. Libby L. Geitner

Byron – Mrs. Libby L. Geitner, 69, of Byron, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on July 13, 2016 under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.

Mrs. Geitner was born January 18, 1947 in Lackawanna, a daughter of the late Walter and Rita Benjamin Brooks.

A member of St. James Episcopal Church in Batavia, Libby was the manager at Batavia Country Club for many years.  She loved cooking, especially making hor d'oeuvres and tending to her many gardens at home. She travelled the United States extensively and the Caribbean along with her husband Richard. Libby’s favorite time of year was Christmas, decorating her home for the season. She had a deep love for family especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family as a caring, beautiful, fun lady with a great zest for life.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Geitner, whom she married February 4, 1967; her children, Scott (Hollie) Geitner of Brockport and Laurie (John) Dehm of Bergen; three grandchildren, Kayla Hofer of Bergen, Nicole and Zackary Geitner, both of Brockport; two brothers, Barry (Gail) Brooks of Florida and Grant (Sharon) Brooks of Lockport; her sister, Bonnie (Steve) Redden of Florida and several nieces, nephews and beloved friends.  

She is preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Skip" Brooks

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Libby’s funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 405 East Main Street, Batavia.  Private interment will be held in North Byron Cemetery.
