By Joshua Smith

Patricia Ann Lown died on 31 August 2016 in Batavia NY.  She is survived by her many friends in Batavia and Genesee County, and by her daughter Carolyn.  Patricia was predeceased by her husband Harry K. Lown and by her son Michael.  Patty was born on 28 October 1925 in Marietta, Ohio to Nell Griffin Pape and Clinton Pape.  The Griffins were one of the original land grant settlers of the Northwest Territory and the Papes immigrated from Germany in the 1830s to farm in Ohio.  Patty met her future husband Harry when they were both students at Marietta College, from which she earned a degree in Spanish.  In 1948, Patty and Harry married and settled in Batavia where Harry joined his family’s insurance agency.  Patty’s joys in life were restoring antiques, tending to her roses, entertaining, her bridge clubs, Conversation Class, the alter guild at St. James Episcopal Church, the Batavia Club and Stafford County Club, and her travels with Harry.  Patty was a woman of grace who also possessed a wry sense of humor.  She will be missed by those who knew her.

There are no prior visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be entombed in St. James Columbarium with her beloved husband Harry.
