Services for ZoElla will be held on Friday May 28 at Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road, Batavia.  Calling hours will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.and services to follow at 2:00 p.m. also on Friday.  Facial coverings will be required. 

Batavia - Marie  L.  Rosone, age 79,  of Batavia,  passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Batavia.

She was born on Monday, October 13, 1941 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Peter J. and Julia A. Novick Rosone.

Marie enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles.  She will be remembered by her family as a loving, giving and selfless person who would help her family in anyway possible placing their needs before hers.

She is survived by her sisters; Alice M. Rice of Batavia and Nancy (Robert) Fazio of Elba; her brother-in-law, John Alcorn of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; nine loving nieces and nephews and fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is the sister of the late Peter A. Rosone, Catherine Alcorn and Stephen P. Rosone.

There are no prior calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield. Virginia Beach/Oakfield - Jason Paul Esten, 41 of Virginia Beach, VA and formerly of Oakfield, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, (May 18, 2021) at his home in Virginia Beach.

Jason was born April 19, 1980 in Batavia, the son of Carol Anne Esten of Oakfield.

Jason joined the United States Navy in December of 2000 and served honorably until April of 2021. He was so proud of his years of service and even prouder when he earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He coached his daughter Brianna, in many sports as she was growing up.

Jason had a love for the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills, and fishing and hunting; but his greatest love was for his daughters, Brianna Jace and Brooklyn Autumn, both of North Carolina.

Besides his mother and daughters, he is survived by the mother of his children, Miranda (Moulton) Esten of North Carolina; his grandmother, Harriet L. Esten; uncles, Ralph, Doug, and Roger (Lisa) Esten; an aunt, Margie Newton; a very special cousin he thought of as a brother, Ralph (Michelle) Esten, Jr; and his father-in-law, Greg Moulton of Brunswick, ME. Also survived by his close friends, Shawn and Alicia Palmer and their two sons.

Jason had a wonderful gift of embracing all that he meant and he had the greatest gift of telling stories and making you laugh. He had a special bond with all his cousins, Michelle (David) Purcell, Danielle Esten, Melissa Esten, Amanda (Jack) Hanson, Stephanie Esten, Krissy (Jeff) Maxwell, Andrew Esten, Kyle Esten, Erica Esten, and LaRissa Miller.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roger Esten, Sr., an aunt, Laurie Esten, and an uncle, Mark Newton.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, (May 25, 2021)  from 3 to 8 pm at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, in Oakfield.  Jason's Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home. gerrard_wendy_-_photo.jpgWendy E. Gerrard, 73 of Batavia, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on May 20, 2021 after a courageous two year battle with leukemia.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years, James Gerrard.  Daughter Tammy Gillard (Roy Watson Sr). Grandchildren, Brenden and Victoria Gillard all of Batavia.  She is also survived by her sister, Mary Kay (Frank) Schwerthoffer of Fort Mill, SC. Sister in law, Kathy Warren of Batavia. Brother in law, John Paul (Donna) Gerrard of Byron.  Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Agnes Warren, in laws, John and Irene Gerrard. Brother Elvin E “Gene” Warren Jr. Sister in law, Ginger (William) Stevens.

Wendy created many memories of summers at Silver Lake with her husband and daughter.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life, always supporting their endeavors.  In her later years of life she enjoyed corvette and golf cart rides with her husband.  She devoted much of her time studying God’s word and teaching Tuesday morning ladies Bible study.  Her motto from the beginning of her battle was “my momma didn’t raise no quitter.”  She stuck to her motto till the very end.

emmajeangrant.jpgEmma Jean Grant, 86 of Alexander, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 20, 2021. She was born in Alexander, on March 24, 1935 to the late Howard and Edna (Johnson) Grant. She is preceded in death by a sister Virginia I. Meier.

Ms. Grant was a 1952 graduate of Alexander Central School. She worked as personal secretary to Mrs. E.N. Rowell, in December of 52’ she started at Genesee County Department of Social Services and was there for 20 years. Emma Jean transferred to Genesee County Health Department for 24 years and then retired in 1997 after 44 years with Genesee County.

She was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church, Batavia Business and Professional Women’s Club, Alexander Happy Agers, Alexander Republican Committee, Alexander Town Board, and Alexander Village Board. She also dedicated a lot of her time to Genesee County Board of Elections, Town of Alexander Election Inspector and as a Census Taker for the Census Bureau.

She is survived by nephews, David (Cindy) Meier of Corfu, Douglas (Cathy Bishop) Meier of Alexander, John (Cherish) Meier of Alexander, niece Linda (John) Hume of Batavia, great-nephews Adam and Jacob Meier both of Alexander, great-nieces Lauren and Nicole Hume both of Batavia, brother-in-law Frank A. Meier Jr. of Alexander and cousin Jenell Carnes of Mumford.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 1 to 3 PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC, 135 Main Street, Attica, NY 14011. A 3:00 PM Celebration of Life will immediately follow. She will be laid to rest in Mumford Rural Cemetery.

rodgers_william_-_photo.jpgWilliam J. Rodgers, 80 of Akron, passed away peacefully Thursday (May 20, 2021) at his residence under the loving care of his family and Hospice.

He was born April 20, 1941 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late William and Catherine Schumacher Rodgers.

William was employed by the Town of Newstead Highway Dept. prior to his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and was an outdoorsman.

Survivors include his sons, James (Chrys) Rodgers of North Carolina and Michael (Janet) Rodgers of Akron. Daughters, Kelly (Greg) Stahl of Pennsylvania and Melissa Rodgers of Amherst. Sisters, Ann Chalmers of Akron and Kathy Shepard of LeRoy. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and his dogs, Shorty and Sparky.

He was predeceased by wife, Nancy Bane Rodgers and his brother, Richard Rodgers.

winters_henry_-_photo.jpgHenry M. Winters “Bo” “Hank”, 82 of Akron, passed away peacefully Tuesday (May 18, 2021) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1939 in Buffalo, a son of the late Henry and Nora Wagner Winters.

He served his country with the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. Hank was a pipe fitter for U.A. Plumbers & Steam Fitters Local 22 prior to his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his son, Russell Winters of Endicott, NY. Stepchildren, Sharon Winters of Akron and Barbara Wild of Buffalo. Sisters, Terri DiCesare of Lancaster and Renie Deck of Cheektowaga. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife’s, Bonita Louise Winters and Judy Winters and daughter, Leslie Winters.

A memorial service will be held Saturday (May 22nd), 11am at High Point Church, 1163 Main Rd., Corfu, NY 14036.

dellambryant.jpgDella Mae Bryant, 82 of Attica, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Absolute Care of Aurora Park in East Aurora. She was born in Batavia, on March 27, 1939 to the late Frederick and Elsie (Linsey) Lapp. She is preceded in death by a sister-in-law LouAnn Lapp.

Della held many administrative positions through her career and retired from NYS Correctional Department at Attica State Prison.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Dawn (Richard) Harvey of Lancaster, siblings, Charles Lapp of Darien Center, Gwenn Amedick of Springfield, VA, grandsons, Jeremy (fiancée Sarah Piasecki) Harvey, Sean (Amy) Harvey, one niece and two nephews.

LeRoy ~ Edith M. Paladino, age 88, formerly of Randall Road, passed away early Tuesday morning (May 18, 2021) at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Batavia.

     She was born September 16, 1932 in Nunda, N.Y.

     Edith will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, who was well known for her baked goods.  She loved her dogs dearly and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Paladino in 2007 and her siblings, Bob and Marie.  She is survived by her daughters, Pam Roblee and Audrey (Ron) Stella, and her son and personal care provider, Anthony Paladino, along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
