Joel W. Turner, 43, of Jacksonville, AL., formally of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday December 20, 2016 in Alabama. He was born on April 10, 1973 in Batavia to the late Richard Turner and Sheila (John) Henderson of Tennessee. In addition to his father he is predeceased by his sister Amy Turner.

Joel was a United States Army Veteran. He will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous man. He cherished his kids and his grandkids more than anything in the world. He was always willing to help, often taking people in when they were in need. He was an honorable American hero to everyone he knew, and we will cherish him forever.

In addition to his mother, Joel is survived by his children; Jessie (Michael) Leone of Stafford, Mason (Amber) Turner of Batavia, Jackson and Lucas Turner of AL.; brother Chad (Jennifer) Turner of Batavia; Jill Turner of TN., Cory (Richard) McCoy of ID., 3 grandchildren, Weston Leone, Elise and Hayden Turner along with 21 nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday January 6, 2017 from 6:00-8:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. An 11:00AM Memorial Service will be held on Saturday the 7th at the Funeral Home. Internment will take place at a later date.
