Robert L. DeFreze Sr.

   Robert L. DeFreze Sr., 82 of Batavia, NY.died October 3, 2010 at Aurora House in Spencerport, NY. Born December 8, 1927 in Pembroke, New York son of the late Frank (Gladys Marsh) Natolie. Mr. DeFreze was retired from the Batavia Police Department where he was a detective and employed for over 25 years. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Police Benevolent Association. He was a past member of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s) the Glenn S. Loomis American Legion Post #332, a former Little League Baseball coach and was active in scouting. Mr. DeFreze was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Preceded in death by his wife, Florence Ficarella DeFreze in 1996. 
 
He is survived by sons Robert (Donna) DeFreze Jr. of Rochester, David (Cinda) DeFreze of Piffard, Richard (Maria) DeFreze of Batavia and Kim (Beth) DeFreze of Batavia, and daughter Cheryl DeFreze of Rochester. One sister Dorothy Antinore of Ballston Spa, NY survives along with 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 
 
Friends are invited to call from 3 to 7 PM on Wednesday October 6, 2010 at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 W. Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. Funeral services will take place on Thursday October 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Entombment with full military honors will take place at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum in Batavia.
