MAVIS E. PATTERSON

Batavia - Mrs. Mavis E. Patterson, 89, of Batavia, a nutritionist at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Batavia for 20 years, died October 5, 2010at the Batavia Nursing Home.

Mrs. Patterson was born April 22, 1921 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Harold and Blanche Raab Griswold.
 
She worked as a nurse at the former St. Jerome Hospital prior to working at Cornell Cooperative and following her time at Cornell Cooperative, she worked as a secretary at Orleans Community Action in Batavia.
 
She was a member of the Zonta Club, American Legion Post No. 332. She enjoyed reading, loved to play bingo and was a fan of the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
 
Her husband, Reubon O. Patterson, died January 8, 1988.
 
Survivors include one son, Keith O. Patterson; a foster son, John (Judy) Ladd of Batavia; a brother, Gary (Beverly) Griswold of Syracuse; grandchildren, Melissa Metcalf of Batavia, Kelly Patterson, Kurtis (Angela) Patterson, Aaron Patterson and  Brett Patterson, both currently serving with the United States Navy and John Ladd, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jenna Kent, Megan Ladd, Kadin Patterson, Allison Patterson and Makayla Davis; her dear friend, Ann Squires of Jacksonville, Florida and  nieces and nephews.
 
She is the mother of the late Lucinda Patterson Metcalf.
 
There are no prior calling hours. Her services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Memorials may be made to Cornell Cooperative Extension, 420 East Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Burial will be in West Bethany Cemetery.
