Robert Gordon Demarest

Batavia - Robert Gordon Demarest, 85, of Batavia, died Saturday (January 28, 2017) at his home in Batavia.

Robert was born September 1, 1931, the son of the late Thelma Greenbaum.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Batavia, Robert loved to be outside, especially to garden.  He enjoyed tinkering around with different items.  Robert snow plowed for the Town of Batavia and was a machinist for Batavia Metal. 

Survivors include wife, Arlene (Duckworth) Demarest of Batavia, whom he married February 21, 1953; one daughter, Karen (John) Gallo of Batavia; a granddaughter, Amy Lynn (Chuck) Hathaway of Churchville; a grandson, Jason (Amanda) Gallo of LeRoy; his great-grandchildren, John, Jack, Miranda and Makenna; a sister-in-law, Carol (Frank) Aquino of Elba and several nieces and nephews.  

There are no prior calling hours.  Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia.  Robert will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.  Memorials may be made to Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc., in care of United Memorial Medical Center, 127 North Street, Batavia, NY 14020 or online at http://geneseecancerassistance.com/donate/.
