George W. Arnold Sr.

George W. Arnold Sr. 82, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Thursday February 9, 2017 after a long courageous 16 year battle with cancer at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born on August 18, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to the late George M. and Clara (Brightenfield) Arnold.       

Mr. Arnold was a United States Army Veteran. He owned and operated George Arnold Trucking where he drove truck for over 56 years and was a member of the Cornerstone Church in East Pembroke for 51 years. He loved mowing his lawn and dinners with his family on Sundays. George enjoyed being a snowbird for 20 years with his wife Marlene, who were married for 60 years. His family meant everything to him. George was known for being a kind and loving man.

He is survived by his loving wife; Marlene (Base) Arnold of Batavia; children Dawn Wapniewski Gentile of Batavia, Karen (Arthur) Kennett of Elba, George (Janice) Arnold Jr. of Batavia and Diane (Jerry) Quinn of Alexander; siblings Edward (Daryln) Arnold of Corfu, Cathy (Robert) Smart of Corfu, Carol (Edward) Beideck of Akron, Charles (Fran) Arnold of Bennington and Liz Norton of Batavia; 10 grandchildren Nathan, Chad (Renee), Mark, Scott (Danielle), Steve (Katie), Derek, Jordan, Jared, Jaylea and Jeremy; 16 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday February 13, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. An 11:00AM Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday February 14, 2017 at the Cornerstone Church 2583 Main Rd. East Pembroke, NY 14036.
