Richard H. “Dick” Klein, 79 of Perry, passed away peacefully at Wyoming County Community Hospital on February 13, 2017. He was born March 15, 1937, in Syracuse, NY, to the late William (Charlotte Holland) Klein. He is preceded in death by brothers William “Bill”, Kenneth, John Klein; sisters Joan and Cathy Klein.

Dick came to Perry as a young man. He purchased a gasoline station that became known as Klein’s Sunoco. Dick provided numerous services and was known as “Mr. Friendly”. He was a past member of the Perry Fire Department, Silver Lake Golf Club, Sportsman’s Club, VFW and Vet’s Club. After he retired he became grounds keeper for our home on Bills Road. He loved to watch all sports, especially NASCAR and the Buffalo Bills. Dick co-managed and sponsored the Villa Klein Softball Team for several years. He enjoyed watching the Perry Yellow Jackets play football and basketball. Dick loved driving on back roads exploring New York and the Amish Country.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Fox) Klein; daughter Judy (Greg) Steeg; sisters Grace (Tony) French, Charlotte (Bob) Lawton; sisters-in-law Rosemary Klein, Marion Klein along with several grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4pm on Thursday February 16, 2017, at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry, New York 14530, where services will follow at 4pm. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Perry.
