Vincent James Guarino

Vincernt James Guarino, 76, of Batavia, died Monday (January 3, 2011) at Rochester General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Batavia on May 13, 1934, a son of the late Joseph and Angeline Battaglia Guarino.

Mr. Guarino was retired from the US Postal Service and was a well known bar tender in the Batavia area.  He was the proprietor of the former Guarino's Osteria in Batavia for many years.  He served with the US Marines during the Korean War as a Radar Technichian, having attained the rank of Corporal and receiving the National Defense Service Medal.  He was a member of the Polish Falcons Club, St. Nicholas Club, Elks Club and the American L:egion Post 332 of Batavia.  He was an avid NY Yankee and Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed bowling, golf and coin collecting.


Surviving are two sons and a daughter in law: Vincent Joseph and Nancy Guarino of Bergen and Michael and Jennifer Guarino of Batavia.  Four grandchildren: Nicholas, Joshua and Kristen Guarino of Bergen and Lilah Guarino of Batavia. He was the brother of the late Salvatore Guarino and Grace Kime.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 7:30PM at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA where prayers will follow.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in LeRoy.
