Obituaries

Age 78, of Batavia, died Friday morning February 10, 2012 at her home. She was born October 18, 1933 in Elba, daughter of the late Walter & Rosa (Simmons) Myers and was also preceded in death by her husband Donald in 1996. Audrey was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Batavia Muckdogs Booster Club.

Surviving are her beloved children Jeff (Vicki) of TX; Steve of Batavia; Brenda (Larry Powers) Clattenburg of Rochester and Joanne (Jeff Coyle) Clattenburg of Brockport; her brother Roy (Anne) Myers of Webster; 6 grandchildren Steve Jr., Shauna, Nicole, Linda, Kristina & Samantha; 4 great-grandchildren Leila, Mason, Abigail & Colton along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Age 24, of Batavia, died Wednesday evening February 8, 2012. She was born December 26, 1987 in Batavia, NY daughter of Paula Crawford (Steve) Zirbel and David Huntoon all of Batavia. Alyce attended Elba Central School and was a 2005 graduate of Batavia High School. She was a secretary at Zirbel Automotive and had just begun working partime at Tully's. A shy, family oriented person, Alyce had a great love for her family and her world was being a mommy to her sweet babies, Ava & Maddox. She loved holiday's, baking, family dinners and family traditions.

Surviving along with her parents are a sister Julie Ann Huntoon and a brother Craig Gerald Huntoon both of Batavia; maternal grandparents Frederick (Minerva) Crawford; paternal grandparents Carol (the late John) Huntoon all of Elba; many aunts, uncles, first & second cousins and friends.

Nancy E. Riggi, 67 of Byron met her Lord on Monday February 6, 2012 peacefully at Highland Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness. She was born July 28, 1944 in Batavia to the late Anthony Zielinski and Mary (Wozniak) Zielinski of Batavia. Nancy loved doing crafts of all types and was a former member of the Batavia Home Bureau for many years. She operated Country Crafts & Ceramic and also had a flower business in her home. She was a gifted artist in toll painting and would knit and crochet while watching TV. She worked with the disabled and was a strong parent advocate at Byron-Bergen School for many years. She defended the rights of those who were unable to defend themselves. Nancy was preceded in death by her brother Anthony “Sunny” Zielinski.

Surviving along with her 97 year old mother Mary; loving husband Joseph F. of 45 years; sons Joseph A. of Rochester; Michael A. Riggi of Batavia; sister Rosemary (Steve) Martian of CA,  along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 6:00 PM Memorial Service will be held on Friday February 17, 2012 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church 18 Gibson St. Bergen, NY 14416. Deborah A. Colopy, 55 of Byron, died February 6, 2012 at Unity Hospital in Rochester. She was born June 24, 1956 in Batavia to the late Charles (Katherine Besaw) Stafford. Mrs. Colopy worked at Lakeside Beikirch Care Center in Brockport as a Nurse. She took great pride in caring for people. Deborah was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her brother Charles Stafford.
                                                                                                                        
She is survived by her husband Craig K., daughters Amy L. and Melissa A. Colopy all of Byron; brother Richard (Diane) Stafford of Oakfield; sister Kathy Sprague of Batavia; along with many nieces and nephews.

Etta Mae was born in Delevan, New York on May 31, 1940 a daughter of the late Arthur and Nancy McKinsey Neamon. She retired from SUNY Geneseo where she worked in their food service department. She had also worked for the Charcoal Corral in Perry, Valley Inn in Warsaw, and the former Genesee Falls Hotel in Portageville, and Archway Cookies in Perry. She was a member of the Perry Senior Citizens Community Club, she helped out with the weekly Rotary Club meals, she was always willing to help out anyone in need, or to be cared for. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and especially enjoyed the company of family, friends, and her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a sister Nancy Kay Adams.

She is survived by her husband Eugene Woodworth, 2 daughters: Julie Johnson of Silver Lake, Rebecca (Rick Hancock) Dailey of Warsaw, 2 sons: Timothy and Russell Woodworth both of Silver Lake, 3 sisters: Donna Jean (Lyle) Gilbert and Shirley Ann Gordon both of Yorkshire, Betty Lou Sinicki of Buffalo, 4 brothers: Gail Neamon of Java, Ronald (Nancy) Neamon of Arcade, Raymond (Betty) Neamon of Benton, KY, and Terry Neamon of Rochester, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Stanley was born in Castile, New York on April 7, 1914 a son of the late Frank and Artella Lathrop MacDonald. Stanley was a graduate of Perry High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked for many years on his father’s family farm in Castile and the former Perry Knitting Mill before going to Eastman Kodak. He worked for Eastman Kodak for 36 years as a supervisor of warehousing retiring in 1979 at the age of 65.He was a former member of the Parkminster Presbyterian Church in Chili. He liked to travel , enjoyed working and enjoyed living on Silver Lake. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Burns) MacDonald who died on December 9, 2007, and a sister Gladys Mimm.

He is survived by a son John “Jack” MacDonald of Castile, 1 daughter: Marcia (Mayeed) Rahman of Pittsford, NY, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Antoinette F. Szczesny “Toni” “Tosh”, 90 of Batavia, died Saturday (January 28, 2012) at Hospice of Buffalo.  She was born in Batavia on January 10, 1922, daughter of  the late John and Louise Hubinska Wujcik.

She was a teacher, social worker, sales clerk and homemaker. Antoinette received a B.A. degree from William Smith College in 1945 and a M.A. degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1947. She taught school in Pavilion, DeRuyter and was a substitute teacher in the Batavia School District and at Notre Dame High School. Antoinette was a Supervisor of Public Welfare in the Genesee County Dept. of Social Services from 1962 until her retirement in 1986. She was also a sales clerk in the Enterprise Clothing Store, a family owned store, until it’s closing in 1986.

Antoinette was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society, the Apostleship of Prayer and was chairman of the Bishops Committee.  She was the leader of the Sacred Heart Bible Study for the past 20 years and was a member of the Notre Dame Prayer Group, the Legion of Honor in the Polish Falconettes and in charge of the walking program for the Falconettes, past member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Rita in St. Mary’s Church and a member of Women’s Aglow, member of the Genesee County Retired Educators, New York State Retired Teachers Assoc., Business and Professional Women and the Retirees of the Business and Professional Women.  She was also a member of both the Independent Assoc. of Retired People and AARP. She was a past member of the American Assoc. of University Women and was an RSVP volunteer in both the Literacy and Step Programs.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Szczesny, whom she married Nov. 25, 1948.  Four sons, Thomas (Frances) Szczesny of Marlboro, N.J., Rev. Walter J. Szczesny of East Aurora, NY, Timothy (Donna) Szczesny of Binghamton and Joseph (Allison) Szczesny of Minot, ME. Two daughters, Mary (Van) Rodenhizer of Oakfield and Veronica (Jerzy) Ryskiewicz of Staten Island.  Seven grandchildren, Spencer, Alex, Laura and Timothy Szczesny, Kathryn Rodenhizer, Paula and Thomas Ryszkiewicz.  Three sisters in-law, Helen Fortunato, Veronica DiFilippo and Rose Szczesny.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Estelle Szulgit, Louise Wujcik, Helen King, John (Fran) Wujcik and Eugene (Florence) Wujcik.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8pm at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 9:30am.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Oakfield.

Gloria R. Watts, 82 of Batavia, died January 17, 2012 at Crossroads House in Batavia. She was born April 30, 1929 in Bordino, NY to the late Percy Richards and the late Elizabeth Ostrander.    Mrs. Watts worked for many years as a Coordination Specialist for the United States Army at Fort Drum in Watertown, NY. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Oakfield United Methodist Church, and the church choir. She was a very adventurous woman that loved to scuba dive. She is preceded in death by her husbands Richard Hicks, Robert Watts, sister Catherine Stevens.     

She is survived by two daughters Michele (Michael) Bielski of Oakfield; Kathleen (Gustave) Grossman of Oakfield; brother Darwin (Rosemary) Richards of FL; brother-in-law John Stevens of Rochester; 5 grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend 7:30 PM Funeral Services on Friday January 27, 2012 at the Oakfield United Methodist Church 2 North Main St. Oakfield, NY 14125. Interment will take place in the Rodman Cemetery.

Baby Matusak, died January 21, 2011 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. Born in Warsaw, NY on January 21, 2012. Born to Matt Troisi of Silver Lake and Jolene Matusak of Silver Lake. Preceded in death by maternal grandmother Cheryl Matusak (2006).

Survived by a maternal grandfather Steve Fox of LeRoy; paternal grandmother Mary Ann Roessell of Retsof; brother Corbin Nichols of Silver Lake; Aunt Kristin (Koy) Langless of Perry; sisters Brooklyn and Shelby Troisi of Silver Lake.

Age 95, of Oakfield, died peacefully Sunday evening January 22, 2012 at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice. She was born February 18, 1916 in LeRoy, NY daughter of the late Louis & Josephine (Andalora) Baglio, also preceded in death by her beloved husband Samuel Forti in 2005; sisters Grace Baglio, Jennie Paladino, Josephine Maida, Mary Perry and a brother Frank Baglio. Mrs. Forti, is a longtime and the oldest member of St. Padre Pio Parish, former member of the Bishop's Committee for Christian Home and Family in the Diocese of Buffalo, welcoming families. In early years she was employed by the Edith Hartwell Clinic and the Jello Plant in LeRoy, also the E.N. Rowell Box Factory & JJ Newberry Co. in Batavia until her retirement in 1972.

Surviving are her loving children Joan (Art) Cichowski of Webster, Elaine Forti of Oakfield, Carol (Jim) Wigton of Rochester and David (Lorraine) Forti of Oakfield; sisters Rose Wallace, Carmen Cintorino, and Marion Ricci all of Batavia; brother-in-law Ralph Cintorino of Batavia; sisters-in-law Betty Forti of LeRoy, Grace Forti of St. Louis; 5 grandchildren Karen (Pasi) Cichowski-Janne, Mark (Shawn) Cichowski, Heather (Jeremy) Shaw, Brian (Marsha) Wigton & Andrew (Kristi) Wigton; 10 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
