Mrs. Pillo was born in Ireland 78 years ago to the late Thomas and Nora Crehan Flanagan. Mrs. Pillo was retired from the former St. Jerome Hospital where she worked in the dietary department for over 25 years and she also worked for Advanced Imaging in Batavia. Margaret was a long time member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s),where she was a Eucharistic Minister, the Legion of Mary, the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church. She was a member of St. Jerome Hospital Guild and she loved to garden. She was preceded in death by her brothers Patrick, Thomas, Seamus and Christopher Flanagan and a sister Carmel Flanagan.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Carl J. Pillo of Batavia, son Sean Pillo of North Carolina and daughter Deidre (fiancé Scott Emminger) Pillo of West Seneca. One Brother Larry Flanagan of Ireland, sisters Bridget Flanagan of Florida, Monica (James) Meehan and Elizabeth (Joseph) Stump both of Pennsylvania who survive along with 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday April 28, 2011 at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 W. Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Prayers will be recited Friday at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s ), 303 East Main Street, Batavia NY 14020. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia New York 14020.
