 Franklin J. Battaglia, 84, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born on December 19, 1932 in Batavia to the late Frank and Grace (Scamacca) Battaglia.

Frank served his country proudly with the United States Army. He was a member of the Swift Strike II platoon out of North and South Carolina, Checkmate II in Turkey, the 101st Airborne Division and the 81 Mortar Men 327th Infantry. Frank was a member at the VFW and also a Batavia City Councilman. He worked for many years at the NYS Veteran’s Home at Batavia.

He is survived by 5 children; Cheryl (Chris) Houle of Clinton, NY., Deborah (Nick) Kurylo of Fishkill, NY., Carol Battaglia of Medina, Katherine Battaglia of Medina and Frank Battaglia of Cary, NC.; his sister Rosemary Paige of SC.; 6 grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s) 303 E. Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia.
