Earl "Butch" M. Spring

Earl “Butch” M. Spring, 90, of Attica passed away peacefully Saturday February 28, 2015 surrounded by his family at United Memorial Medical Center. om  HHe was born August 2, 1924 in Batavia to the late Harry (Esther Bey) Spring. He is preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Beaver.

Butch was a graduate of Alexander Central High School. Upon graduation he entered the service. Butch was a Corporal Combat Engineer of the United States Army, WWII.  He earned 5 Battle Stars, fought at Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion, Battle of the Bulge, Battle for the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen. He was a member of the 299th Engineers (Combat) Battalion. He was recently honored with a living tribute by the Patriot Guard Riders. His expertise in masonry and pride in his work was evident in the beautiful homes he built in the area. After his retirement he pursued a second career in 1980 as a Building Inspector for New York State Office of General Services which he retired from in 2001. He loved to read and was a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills. His greatest joy however was spending quality time with his grandchildren.  Butch was a member of SS Joachim and Anne Parish and a life member of the Bricklayer and Allied Craft-Workers Local 45.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Helen “Honey” (Shreder) Spring; daughter Mary Kay (Dr. Gerardo) Palacios of Tampa, FL; son Jim Spring of Buffalo; sisters Betty Bauer of Batavia, Barbara Spring of Batavia; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Joan C. Stark

Joan C. Stark, 83 of Eden, formerly of Akron, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday (March 1, 2015) at St. Francis Home in Williamsville, NY.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on August 22, 1931, daughter of the late Clarence P. and Catherine Schimmer Wangler.

Joan was a former Sister of St. Joseph and a cook for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Williamsville.  She was a member of St. Teresa’s Church in Akron.  Joan also enjoyed cooking and baking and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Stark.

Survivors include three brothers, Paul (Karen) Wangler of West Falls, NY, Thomas (Gayle) Wangler of Newton, MA and David (Marilyn) Wangler of Edmonton, Alberta.  Two sisters, Ann (late William) Sayers of Akron and Mary (late Jack) Young of Pembroke.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Wednesday (March 4th) from 3-7pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 32 JOHN ST., AKRON, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10am at St. Teresa’s R.C. Mildred "Mickey" O. Tourville

Mildred “Mickey” O. Tourville, 78 of LeRoy, passed away on Saturday February 28, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1936 in San Diego, CA to the late Walter (Mildred Smith) Beetle. She is preceded in death by a son Daniel Tourville.

Mrs. Tourville worked for PW Minor. She enjoyed scrapbooking and put together numerous photo albums for her family. Mickey was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan, enjoyed doing crafts, playing the lotto and playing bingo. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the Christmas Season.

She is survived by her loving children Rev. David Tourville of Olean; Dennis Tourville of Batavia; Deborah Tourville of Batavia; Diane Tourville of Ogdensburg; Donna (Fred) Kabel of Batavia; Darlene (Dan) Bailey of Batavia; she was married to Lester Tourville of Hamburg; sisters Evelyn Bishop of Clifton Springs; Edith Beetle of FL; Loretta Wyatt of Rochester; Carol Ganias of Liverpool; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

William L. Lamb

Pavilion ~ William L. Lamb, age 45, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

     Will was born February 4, 1970 in Batavia, a son of Rosemary Smith and the late Earl William Lamb.

     Will had exceptional math skills and enjoyed working with his hands to putter and build things.  He also had the incredible gift to make everyone laugh.  He was quick to joke, poke fun when the chance arose and reminisce about the good times from the past.  His positive attitude was infectious.  His glass was always half full, never empty.  Spending time with family and friends was Will's greatest joy.  We will miss him dearly. Gone from this earth, but never from our hearts.

     "The Golden Gates stood open, God saw you needed rest, His garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best."

     Will is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mardell Parmenter Lamb; children, Tiffany Rose of Spencerport and William II at home; his mother, Rosemary Penepent of Stafford; step-children, Vincent Longhany and Liana Longhany; step-sisters and brother, Christine Cannon of Corfu, Cheryl Carey of Batavia and Nicholas Carey of FL; mother-in-law, Mary L. Cordes; brothers-in-law, Tom Parmenter and Tim (Denise) Parmenter; best friend, Mark Dickes of Pavilion; his crazy cat, "Silly Girl", along with many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his step-father, Gerald Carey.

     There are no prior calling hours and services will be announced at a later date.

Ronald M. Brown

Ronald M. Brown, 53, of Corfu went to his heavenly home while surrounded by his loving family and his furry companion Skamp on February 25, 2015 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born September 6 1961, in Buffalo to Dawn (Roger) Hill of Elma. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law Conrad Zalewski.

Ron was the loving devoted husband of 19 years to Elizabeth (Zalewski) Brown and loving devoted father to Katelyn “Punkin” and Nicholas “Buddy” Brown. He loved his family with all his heart and soul. Everything that he did showed his love and devotion to his family. Ron was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Ron worked for Eastern Tank Services in Amherst New York until he became disabled in 2011.  The Brown Family would like to thank the Visiting Nurse Association for providing wonderful care and support during this difficult time.  Ron will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth M (Zalewski) Brown of Corfu; son Nicholas C. Brown of Corfu; daughter Katelyn M. Brown of Corfu; brother Robert (Michelle) Knaler of CA; sisters Deborah (Peter) McNally of Lancaster, Jeanette (Dave Barnett) Holdsworth of Cheektowaga, Cheryl (Andy) Dietrich of Amherst; mother-in-law Noreen Zalewski of Corfu; brother-in-law Ken Grant of Kenmore; sisters-in-law Lou Ann (James) Walker of Indiana, Sue Ann (James Silk) Zalewski of Corfu, Ceceilanne (Glenn) Seidel of Kenmore along with many nieces and nephews.

A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian burial will be held on March 9, 2015 at St. Maximilian Kolbe (St. Francis of Assisi) 18 West Main Street Corfu, NY 14036.

Gertrude A. (Hoshko) Ladd

Bergen ~ Gertrude A. Ladd, age 90, of Maple Avenue, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at her residence following a brief illness.

     Gertrude was born on April 19, 1924 in Amsterdam, N.Y. to the late John and Marjorie Kimmins Hoshko.

     Following her graduation from Amsterdam High School, she attended the Rochester Park Avenue School of Nursing where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse.  She was employed at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport, N.Y. for 30 years prior to her retirement.  She was a member of the Twig Association of Lakeside Memorial Hospital, the Gillam Grant Community Center, Park Avenue Hospital Alumni Association  and the Covered Bridge Society of Western New York.  Gertrude enjoyed camping, bowling, crocheting and completing jigsaw puzzles.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace in 1983, son, Kevin in 2014, sisters, Ruth and Marjorie, brother, Arthur and two infant children.

     She is survived by her children, Eugene (Mary Dixon) of California, Ronald (Marsha) of Batavia, Donna Ladd of Waterford, NY, Joanne Ladd and Brian Ladd (Susan Wilson) at home, Timothy (Susan) of Oklahoma, Dennis (Rochele) of Holley; predeceased son, Kevin's fiance, Ann Gardner; brother-in-law, Walter Wehnau; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

     Special thanks to Gertrude's care providers, Leslie Fuller and Rose Anthony.

Alvin Wood Jr.

Alvin Wood Jr. (Woody, Sonny) of Perry, was called to heaven on Tuesday February 24, 2015. Woody is preceded in death by his parents Alvin (Emma) Wood Sr.; daughter Kimberly Wood and brother Richard Wood.

Woody recently celebrated his 80th birthday on January 23, 2015. He was a graduate of the class of 1954 of Perry Central School. He was married to Coralyn (McClurg) Wood for 58 years. Woody was a member of the Laborers Union in Rochester, New York and worked as a Construction Foreman for many years. He was a life time member of the Perry Center Fire Department and former manager of the Perry Raceway. Woody was also a member of the Army Reserves where he was a Drill Sergeant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Coralyn (McClurg) Wood; daughter Karen Robb; son Kevin (Lanette) Wood; sisters Evelyn Shaughnessy, Laura (Jim) Richards and sister-in-law Helene (Richard) Wood; grandchildren LeighAnn (Mitch) Res, Chelsea Robb, Brighton Wood, Kendrick Wood, Camden Wood Sarah Wood; and great-grandchildren Elijah and Sarah Rex.

Montagu J. Andrews, Jr.

Montagu J. Andrews, Jr. "Monty", 81 of Batavia, departed this world peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, as a resident of the Genesee County Nursing Home. 
 
He was born in Pavilion, NY on July 11, 1933, a son of the late Montagu J. and Teresa Aquino Andrews. 
 
Monty was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He was employed by the former Batavia Times on Center St., the proprietor of the former Genesee Liquor Store on E. Main St. in Batavia, and as a security guard at the Genesee County Nursing Home prior to his retirement. 
 
He was an avid gun collector and a proud member of the N.R.A., he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. Monty was also an active life time member of the former Saint Nicholas Club. 
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Ratulowski Andrews of Batavia and their four children, Montagu Scott (Margie) Andrews of Virginia Beach, VA, Debbie (David) Olivani of Mesa, AZ, Mindy Andrews of Batavia, and Mark (Tina) Andrews of Slatington, PA and seven grandchildren Sara Olivani, Desiree Janiga, Michael Andrews, Autumn Janiga, Emily Olivani, Mary Olivani, and Melecia Andrews.  Monty is also survived by his brother, Gordon (Barbara) Andrews of Oklahoma City, OK and sister, Shirley Wallace of Rochester, NY as well as nieces and nephews.

Thomas J. Pierson

Thomas J. Pierson, age 57, of Perry died on Thursday February 19, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Warsaw, New York on May 19, 1957 a son of the late Gordon J. Pierson and Gladys (Brown) Pierson of Perry. He is preceded in death by his father Gordon and a brother James.

Tom attended Perry High School. He first started out his working career at the family farm, later worked for Koch Trucking in Leicester, then M&T Trucking in Pavilion. Tom eventually became a self employed truck driver owning TJP Trucking Inc., after retiring from truck driving he went to work for the Town of Perry where he was the sexton of Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. Pierson was a member of the Mt. Morris Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed gardening, wildlife, spending time out in the nature, and hunting with his sons. Many will remember Tom on how he liked to joke with people.

He is survived by his wife: Lucretia “Lucy” (Piraino) Pierson who he married on August 26, 1978, his mother Gladys Pierson of Perry; 2 sons Shane (Jennifer) Riolo of Rome, Joshua (Melissa) Pierson of Wyoming;  sister Jeanine Pierson of Warsaw; brother: Steven (Terry) Pierson of Perry;2 grandchildren Noah and Lily Riolo along with many nieces and nephews.

Lois M. Bush

Lois M. Bush, 84, of Silver Springs passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sunday (February 22, 2015) surrounded by the unwavering love of her family.

Lois devoted her life to her loving husband, Tom, of 60 years and together they raised eight children.   She was employed at the former Agway Petroleum and at Bush Hill Florist. Lois was an active member of St. Isdore’s Catholic Parish (St. Mary’s Church in Silver Springs), where she and Tom volunteered at Friday night bingo.  Lois was also a member of the Perry Chamber of Commerce for many years. 

Lois enjoyed Sunday gatherings with her family.  Lois and Tom celebrated each year by traveling to their favorite vacation spot in Florida.  She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening.

She will forever be remembered by her family and friends for her generous spirit, warm hugs, unconditional love, and blueberry muffins.

Lois considered her life to be blessed in countless ways including her loving children, Joe Bush of Silver Springs, Sue (Greg) Walton of Bliss, Debbie (Brian) Gross of Castile, Marty (Doug Hammond) Bush of Rochester, Linda J. Bush of Silver Springs, Lori A. Bush of Cape Coral, Florida, Tim (Linda) Bush of Silver Springs, and Tom (Becky) Bush of Perry along with 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Bush, who passed away in 2013 and parents, Gordon and Genevieve (Granger) Woodard. 

Family and friends are invited to call from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at the Eaton-Watson Home, LLC. 98 N. Main St. Perry. Prayers at 10:15am at the funeral home will precede a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Silver Springs.

She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Springs.
