Clarence L. Torrey

Mr. Clarence L. Torrey, 93, of Bethany, died Friday (September 6, 2013) at home.

Mr. Torrey was born February 7, 1920 in Stafford, the son of the late Lee and Nellie (Noble) Torrey.

A veteran with the United States Army, he served from 1942 to 1945.  He was a machinist at LeRoy Machine in LeRoy and enjoyed riding his bike, playing cards and gardening.

Survivors include four children, James C. Torrey of Stafford, Patricia A. (George) Harrison of Stafford, Louise J. Korpar of Henrietta and Robert (Deborah) Torrey of Batavia; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

His wife of 54 years, Edna Viola (Schramm) Torrey, died in 2000. He is the brother of the late Ruth Sanders and Elsie Schramm.  

Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 6188 Route 5, Stafford.  Burial with full Military Honors will be in East Bethany Cemetery, Bethany.
