jomarchese.jpg  Josephine “Jo” (nee Coppolino) Marchese, of Batavia passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022 at age 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Russell M. Marchese, Dearest daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Coppolino. Jo is also predeceased by her brother John “Jack” Coppolino and sister Joan (Bill) Davis.

Loving mother of Ann (Daniel) Celani, Marilyn (Bernd) Kutzscher, Russell (Wendy), David (Julie), Thomas (Linda), Robert (Teresa), Susan (John) Nicastro. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Elaine Scappa and Marilyn Coppolino; cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, for many years Jo was involved with charitable and community causes, an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Church and a volunteer teacher at Notre Dame High School.

There will be no prior calling hours and Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Nancy P. Horton, 89, of Elba, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

She was born August 19,1933 in Batavia, a daughter of Leo and Alberta (Colson) Post.

Nancy retired from Social Security and enjoyed many winters in Winter Haven, Florida with her husband Lorne, who she married March 14, 1953.  She loved to golf, play cards and do crossword puzzles and spend time with family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Darwin) Weller; son, Peter (Michele) Horton and beloved grandchildren, Kevin and Katie (Pat) Horton.

Also surviving are her brother, Kenneth (Louise) Post; brother-in-law, Sherm Horton and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy is predeceased by her husband, Lorne and son, Michael.

Calling hours are Thursday, October 13 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Nancy's funeral will be held on Friday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elba Presbyterian Church, 23 North Main St., Elba.  Nancy will be laid to rest in Maplelawn Cemetery, Elba.

Donna M. King, 53 of Oakfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday (October 5, 2022) at United Memorial Medical Center.

She was born June 4, 1969 in Batavia, NY, a daughter of Theodore King Sr. of Elba and the late Katherine Zajaczkowski King.

Donna enjoyed crafts and diamond art. She also loved listening to her favorite country singer Kane Brown.

Surviving besides her father ate her siblings, Theodore King Jr. of Oakfield and Katie (David) Kinney of Oakfield. Nephews and niece, Austin Kinney, Zander Kinney, Theodore King III, Anthony King and Christina King.

She is predeceased by her canine friends, Mimi and Little Man.

Newton known to many as Skip passed away September 15, 2022, at his home in Big Bear California. He was born August 13, 1948, in Batavia NY, the son of the Late Newton Earl Worthington and Mary E. Worthington Walczak. He was also preceded in death by his sister Rosemarie.

Skip graduated from Pembroke High School in 1966 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served in the Marine Corp from 1967 to 1971 with active duty in Vietnam. After discharge from the military he was self employed as a contractor in a flooring business in California. Skip loved music and in high school played in a drum corp and local band. He especially enjoyed Willie Nelson.

Surviving are his children; Dana Worthington of CA, Keith (Dina) Worthington of Big Bear, CA, Christian (Marci) of Big Bear, CA , Dianna Towns of Big Bear CA, April (Matthew) Nolte of Senora, CA and Cathren (Ryan) Salzano of Knoxville, TN. Also long time companion Susie Burchit of Big Bear, CA.  He is survived by 10 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren, and his siblings, Patricia (Richard) Dibble of Texas, Rosann (David) Lowder of Varysburg, Clinton (Barbara) Worthington of Batavia, Pamela Stadler of Batavia, and Keith Worthington of Corfu, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu NY on Friday, October 14,  from 5 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 15, at 11 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 18 West Main Street, Corfu, followed by a Graveside Burial with military honors in Indian Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice .

Renae Swansbrough, 70, of Batavia, passed on September 26, 2022 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia.

Renae's services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11 at St. Joseph's Mausoleum, 532 Ellicott Street, Batavia.   She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Batavia.

Susan Elizabeth (Page) Ridall was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven after a strong fight with cancer at her home in West Middlebury on September 29, 2022 at the age of 73.
Susie was born at home on Nov. 14, 1948 in Wyoming to the late Harry and Dorothy (Wolcott) Page.

She worked as a resident assistant for 31 years at Genesee County Nursing Home where she took pride in her work and taking care of “her people.” She stopped working to babysit her grandchildren and many other kids. She was a member of the Dale Baptist Church. She was a youth leader where she was known as “Grandma Susie” to many children. She was also a member of Bethany Volunteer Fire department. She catered numerous weddings and made beautiful cakes.

Susie loved a good mystery book, a good bingo game, a serious poker game, and playing cards with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years Howard “Butch” Ridall III. Her daughters Sarah (Todd) Deuel of Wyoming and Betsy (Gary) Farnsworth of Alexander. Her grandchildren Howard “Rocky” Ridall V, Brent Ridall, Mindy Sue (Andy) Bittner, Michelle Ridall (Peter Saxman), Joshua (Kelsey) Farnsworth, and Jacob Farnsworth. Her great grandchildren David and Isabella Bittner, Gemma, Ava and Piper Saxman.

Also surviving are her brothers Ray (Dede) Brad (Judy), Charlie (Diane), Tim (Chris), Doug (Sissy) Page. Her sisters. Sally Page and Candy (Wally) Urf. Her sister-in-law Marlene Page. She is predeceased by her only son Howard “Howie” Ridall IV and her oldest brother Jim Page.

We’d like to say a special thank you to Dr. Lauren Loss for all her help in keeping Mom comfortable. Being always a generous giver Susie donated her body to UB Medical Science.

You are invited to join Susie’s family for a memorial on Saturday Oct. 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Dale Baptist Church, located at 1291 Dale Rd, Dale, NY 14039. A light luncheon will be held immediately after the service at Wyoming Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers the family asks you to make donations to Dale Baptist Church or St. Jude.

pullen_steven_-_photo1.jpgSteven E. Pullen, 72 of Batavia, passed away on Friday (September 30, 2022) at United Memorial Medical Center.

He was born July 18, 1950 in Nampa, Idaho, a son of the late Jesse Pullen and Dorothy Corttis Pullen Cox.

Steven and Connie met in May of 1972 and married May 4, 1974. Fifty years together and 48 years married. They raised 4 fine children in Perry, NY. where they lived until 2010.

Steven worked as a steel fitter at Graham Corporation in Batavia for over 45 years. For many years he also worked as a white water raft guide, primarily in Letchworth State Park. Over the years he was a Boy Scout, a member of the NRA, an American Red Cross instructor, and a volunteer ambulance responder among other things. He had enjoyed traveling around the US since his retirement, revisiting many spots he had seen as a child.  He had a life time love of photography and miniature trains.

He was predeceased by his daughter Lucy Pullen who died in 2018.

Survivors include his wife, Constance Kline Pullen of Batavia. Daughter, Sandra (Terry) Rawleigh of Dansville. Sons, James “Jamie” Pullen and William “Willie”, both of Batavia. Grandchildren, Madelynn and Alexander Rawleigh. Brothers and sisters, Julie Grant, Robert Pullen, Janice Palumbos, Debra Pendergast and Lillian Hashimoto. Also survived by sisters in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Saturday (October 8th) from 3-5pm at the J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, NY, where a remembrance service will commence at 5pm.

duckworth.jpg  Steven H. Duckworth, 70, of Dunkirk passed away on October 5, 2022 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. He was born on January 14, 1952 in Batavia to the late Howard and Elsie (Humel) Duckworth. In addition to his parents, Steven is predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years; Linda (Lord) Duckworth; and brother Richard Duckworth.

Steven was known as “The Shack Man” as he worked and ran RadioShack in Dunkirk for over 20 years. He was also a professional guitarist for a living for many years playing in multiple bands in his career including Gypsy, Citizen Band, Rick Haitz Trio and Striker. Playing his guitar and spending time with his family at their family cottage on Black Lake were paramount.

Steven is survived by his children; Steven (Emily) Duckworth of West Seneca, NY, Taylor (Austin McCool) Duckworth of Dunkirk, Melissa (John) Ladd of Batavia and Jaime (Eric) Koziarski of Batavia; grandchildren Mason Turner, Jessie Leone, Lieutenant Gage Burton, Dillion (Andrea) Beverly, Megan Ladd, Zacheriah Smith and Alyce Smith; 2 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday October 8, 2022 from 11:00-1:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 1:00PM Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation at the Funeral Home. Steven will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Alexander.

Batavia - Matthew  D.  Yoder, 25, of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at his home while under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.

Matt was born on May 29, 1997 in Batavia, a son of David S. Yoder and Kathleen Yunker Yoder of Batavia.

Matt was a graduate of Pembroke High School and was studying game simulation and science at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in Troy. He was active in martial arts earning his 2nd degree black belt from Refuse 2 Lose Martial Arts in Batavia. Matt loved books, movies and listening to music on his vinyl record collection.

Surviving with his parents are his sister, Anna Yoder of Batavia; grandparents, Jerome D. (JoAnn) Yoder of Batavia and Richard (Late Mary Lucille) Yunker of Oakfield; his aunt, Kristin Yunker of Oakfield; his uncle, Jerome S. (Gwen) Yoder of Darien; and his cousins, Nicholas and Zachary Yoder.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 4 to 7 pm at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 10 am at St. Padre Pio Parish, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. LeRoy ~ Lisa M. Cimetta, age 65, of Genesee Street, passed away at home on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022. She is survived by her two children; Elizabeth Cimetta of Rochester and Nicholas Bowden of Buffalo.

     Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish ~ St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake St. LeRoy.
