Rose L. Blair

Rose L. Blair, 83 of Varysburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Wyoming County Community Hospital. She was born on January 24, 1931 in Warsaw to the late John (Mary Janik) Satola. Mrs. Blair worked at the Byrncliff Resort & Conference Center in Varysburg for 46 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Bennington Center. Rose enjoyed raising chickens and geese as well as gardening. She was a devoted fan of Earnest Tubb and John Wayne. Rose had a love for music, teaching her children to play many instruments especially her favorite instrument the fiddle. She loved babies, all babies, her children and grandchildren often referring to them as her “Little Dupies”.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Blair who passed in 1990, daughter Janet Blair, grandson Todd Thornton, brothers Frank, Stanley and Steven Satola, sisters Katherine Satola, Mary Wagner and Sophie Widelski.

Mrs. Blair is survived by sons Kenneth (Cindi); Wayne (Judy) both of Varysburg; Roger Blair of Bennington; daughters Joanne (David) Thornton of Attica; Patricia (Scott) Meidenbauer of Varysburg; Susan (Tracy) Mallon of Bennington; brothers Raymond (Agatha) Satola of OH; Leonard (Alice) Satola of Depew; sister Helen Pierce of Alden; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Monday March 3, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main St. Attica, NY 14011. An 11:00 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 4, 2014 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish 1230 Clinton St. (Bennington Center) Attica, NY 14011. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Varysburg.
