Dr. Paul C. LaValley

Dr. Paul C. LaValley, 70, passed away on September 21, 2014.  
 
He was born July 13, 1944 in Ithaca, NY to the late Edward C. LaValley and Mildred ("Midge") Fagan
 
Dr. LaValley was a United States Navy veteran and former Commander of the American Legion, Post 332. He volunteered extensively with the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Batavia.  He received a Presidential Service Award in 2009 for his volunteer service.
 
He received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Michael's College (VT), a Master of Arts from the University of Vermont, and a Doctorate in English Literature from the University of Toronto.  He served as Assistant to the City Manager (Batavia) and worked at the Dolomite Company in Leroy.  A passionate teacher, Paul taught English at The Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, CT), Genesee Community College, Notre Dame High School (Batavia, NY), and at the Attica Correctional Facility.   
 
He is survived by wife, Pamela Wyeth of Connecticut.  Siblings, Edward (late Beatrice) LaValley of Batavia and Louise (John) Henderson of Holley, NY.  Daughters, Claire (Dean) Angle of Buffalo, NY and Susan LaValley of Batavia, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. 
 
There will be no prior visitation.  A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday (October 3rd), 11am at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC,  2 Bogue Avenue, Batavia, NY.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Susan LaValley in care of J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, LLC.
