Mrs. Alice V.Chaya

Batavia - Alice V. Chaya, 85, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Chaya was born January 16, 1929 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Webster and Gladys Shattuck Booth.

A member of Resurrection Parish she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Walter F. Chaya, whom she married October 28, 1949; her daughter,   Kathy M. Porter of Batavia; two granddaughters, Katherine (Peter) Metzler of Batavia and Dr. Sarah Porter of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Gladys Balbick of Wyoming and special friend and care giver, Regina Abdella.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

She was the mother-in-law of the late Stephen Porter and step-daughter of the late George Poste.

There are no prior calling hours.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Resurrection Parish - St. Mary's Site, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o Senior Center, 2 Bank Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or Crossroads House, P.O.
