Kathryn E. Zerby

Kathryn E. Zerby, 95, passed away on January 17, 2015 at Phoebe Nursing Home in Allentown, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Clark Zerby of Batavia, New York.  Born in the town of Caroline, NY, Kathryn was the daughter of the late George F. and Marie L. Edwards. She was the granddaughter of the late “Uncle Bob Edwards” of Ithaca Gun Works. 

She was a graduate of Batavia High School and the Bryant and Stratton Business Institute of Buffalo, New York.  She worked as a book keeper for Massey Harris in Batavia and later for the Democrat and Chronicle office in Batavia.  She was a member of the Batavia First United Methodist Church.  During World War II she was a volunteer nurse’s aide at Genesee Memorial Hospital.  After retirement she volunteered at the Holland Land Office. She loved history, travel, reading and playing Bridge.  She is remembered for her love of family, her sharp intellect and keen sense of humor.

Kathryn is survived by daughter Margaret Minneman of Allentown, PA; grandchildren Michael and Sarah Minneman of Allentown, PA along with many nieces and nephews.

An 11:00 AM Memorial Service will be held Saturday March 14, 2015 at the Batavia First United Methodist Church 8221 Lewiston Road Batavia, New York 14020.
