Evelyn K. Okay

Evelyn K. Okay, 81 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday (March 20, 2015) at her residence.

She was born April 24, 1933 in South River, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Patrick and Martha McClosky Kirk.

Evelyn worked as a nurse anesthetist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo prior to her retirement.  She was committed to her profession and enjoyed working closely with colleagues.  Evelyn was known and loved for her loyalty and generosity to her family and friends.   She was energized by informed discussion about politics and history.  She loved the New York Yankees and her home state of New Jersey.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Cuneyt V. Okay, who died November 17, 2014.

Survivors include her children, Jale Okay of Amherst, MA, Mehmet Okay of Batavia and Kammie (Robert) Scott of Philadelphia, PA. Grandchildren, Madeline and Lucas Scott; niece, Patricia (Kirk) Murtha and nephew, Shawn Kirk.  

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family with burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin, New Jersey.  The family has requested no flowers.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family at: www.mcandrewfuneralhomes.net.
