Robert ‘Bob’ Willis Eick, age 90, of Basom, New York, died Tuesday night, December 19, 2017 at Crossroads House of Batavia. Bob passed away lovingly surrounded by his family and the singing of hymns. Born April 20, 1927, in Gasport, New York, he was the son of late George and Minnie (Luckman) Eick. 

Bob was the longtime owner and devoted operator of Eick’s Bicycle Barn since 1970.  Previous to Eick’s Bicycle Barn, Bob owned the Oakfield Cash Market, and was the business manager at Meiser Chevrolet of Oakfield. Notably, Bob served as the Alabama Town Justice for 28 years. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed volunteering on several committees such as Oakfield Prayer Breakfast committee, Oakfield Lions Club, Batavia Senior Center, and St. Paul Lutheran Church. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth (Gray) Eick; along with two daughters; Diane Phelps of Corfu, Elaine (David) Wheatley of Delhi, and son-in-law Paul Schafer of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Summer (Dan) Forness, Grayden (Brittany) Schafer, Juliane (Paul) Hillis, Christina (David) Rheam, Peter (Kristin) Wheatley, John Wheatley, Joanna Wheatley, Kyle (Lindsay) Phelps, Carrie Phelps, Lindsey (Ryan) Mating; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other loving friends and family. 

Bob was pre-deceased by daughter Carol Jean Schafer (December 2017), and son-in-law Paul Wesley Phelps (August 2015). 

Friends may visit with the family during calling hours on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Michael S. Tomaszewski Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC at 4120 W Main Street Rd, Batavia. A memorial service for Bob Eick will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Ave, Batavia with pastor Allen Werk officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in West Shelby, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Bob’s memory to Crossroads House at 11 Liberty St. or St. Paul Lutheran Church, both of Batavia. 

Bob is remembered most vividly through the love and devotion given to his family and friends.
