David F. Brewer

Batavia - David F. Brewer, age 79, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mr. Brewer was born June 18, 1938 in Batavia

, the son of the late G. Francis and Mildred (Roll) Brewer.

He was a retired employee of the Batavia VAMC and formerly worked at Trojan Industries and served with the US Army from 1963 to 1965.  

David was an active member of Resurrection Parish where he served as an assistant for many funeral masses, was an Eucharist minister, delivered Communion to many home bound parishioners and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Carnival.  He also belonged to the K of C., Msgr. Kirby Council and volunteered at Crossroads.  He was “A friend of Bill W.” for over 17 years where he was affectionately known as Old Dave.                

Survivors include his sister;  Marilyn Brewer, RSM of Buffalo;  Barbara Brown, his  companion for over 40 years; step-son Ronald (Christine) Brown of Bergen and several cousins.  He was “Papa” to Megan and Sydney Brown and Levi Grimm.  He was the brother of the late Robert C. Brewer.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.  at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St. Batavia. Prayers will be Monday  at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed  be at his Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00p.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Church, 303 E.
