Mr. Roy E. McClurg

Stafford - Mr. Roy E. McClurg, 81, of Stafford, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Buffalo General Medical Center.

Mr. McClurg was born August 9, 1937, in Batavia, a son of the late Russell and the late Florence Heffer McClurg.

A member of Oakfield United Methodist Church, Roy was a member of the Stafford Fire Department and the Stafford Exempts. During the annual Stafford Carnival, he could be found working in the french fry stand. An fan of NASCAR, he, along his late wife, Sophie and their family, travelled to many racetracks throughout the East Coast where he would always root for Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed carpentry, spending time with his grandchildren and cheering on the Buffalo Bills. He will also be sadly missed by his four legged companion, Riley.

His wife, Sophie Krywy McClurg, passed away on February 10, 2014.

Surviving are his children; Glenn (Odette) McClurg and  Douglas McClurg, both of LeRoy and  Janet (Dean Kerr) Johannes of Stafford; five grandchildren; Jamie McClurg of Corfu, Douglas McClurg of LeRoy, Alan Johannes of Stafford and Shane and Tyler McClurg of LeRoy; a great-grandson, Hudson; his sister, Lois (Ed) Schutt of Corfu; his sister-in-law, Ethel McClurg of LeRoy and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his son; Richard Dutton and his siblings; Everett McClurg, Ralph (Arlene) McClurg, Ruth (Alvin) Baubie, June (Daniel) Stack and Kenneth McClurg.               

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. He will be laid to rest in Stafford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roy's memory may be made to Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield, New York 14125.
