Judd L. Crocker

LeRoy ~ Judd L. Crocker, age 82, of Selden Road, passed away Friday (January 25, 2019) at the LeRoy Village Green.

    

He was born May 30,1936 at the family home, a son of the late Clarence and Harriet (Hamilton) Crocker.

     Judd was a graduate of LeRoy High School class of 1954 and attended Cornell University where he earned a B.S. in Agricultural Economics in 1958. While attending Cornell, Judd served in the US ARMY ROTC, moving on to active duty 1958-59 and US ARMY Reserves 1959-1968. Captain Rank.

     Upon returning home to LeRoy, Judd joined his brothers in joint business ventures growing and diversifying Crocker’s Farm Service Inc. In 1969 a Hardware store was added to the family business - Crocker’s Country Store.  As the business continued to grow, they became Crocker’s Ace Hardware in the 80’s. Upon retirement, Judd sold the hardware side of the business to his son, Brad Crocker and Dan Diskin in 1998. Judd continued to work at the hardware store part-time until the spring of 2018.

     On April 1,1966 Judd married the love of his life, Marilyn (Roth) Crocker. Together through 48 years, they enjoyed life and raising three children.

    Judd loved working and being involved in his community and supporting those within it. This love led to years of service including, St Mark’s Episcopal Church, LeRoy Jaycees, LeRoy Historical Society, and Friends of Machpelah.  He was an avid skier and served as a 25 year member of the National Ski Patrol at Swain Ski Center. Judd and his wife, Marilyn, enjoyed 2-3 week European ski vacations to Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy with the Rochester Ski Club.

    In retirement, Judd and Marilyn continued to travel, covering most of the U.S. and Canadian Provinces in their motorhome. They continued to share time equally between their home in LeRoy and their home in Florida, where they were involved once again within their local community and homeowner’s association.

    Judd will be missed by his children; June (Bill) Bailey, Cindy (Scott) Spear, and Brad

(Nicole Boyce) Crocker and grandchildren; Jacqueline (Joe) Flannigan, Briana Bailey, Ryan, Andrew and Rachel Spear, Benjamin and Cole Crocker, and Christina Woodrow. Brother, Louis (Ann) Crocker of LeRoy; a sister Zoe Thompson of St. Petersburg, Fl; several nieces and nephews and extended family. He was the brother of the late James Crocker and Suzanne Kolmetz.

     Family and friends may call on Wednesday January 30 from 4-7 pm at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc in LeRoy. A service will immediately follow at 7 pm. Interment will be private in Machpelah Cemetary.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mark’s Church, LeRoy Historical Society or Friends of Machpelah.
