LeRoy ~ Robert G. Waterman, age 86, formerly of LeRoy, passed away Tuesday afternoon (May 6, 2014) at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

     Mr. Waterman was born April 30, 1928 in Batavia, a son of the late William and Margaret Gardner Waterman.

     He was a U.S. Army veteran, a very active member of the LeRoy United Methodist Church and a retired custodian from the LeRoy Central School District.  He enjoyed being involved with all kinds of youth sports, especially coaching little league.  He also participated in horseshoe tournaments.

     Robert is survived by dear friend, Beverly Hess, the Music Lady.  Bob sang for several years in her music ministry at local nursing homes and for senior citizen groups.

     Bob’s interment will be held privately in Machpelah Cemetery.  Memorials in Bob’s name may be offered to the LeRoy United Methodist Church, where he was a proud custodian and caretaker.  You may share a memory or offer a condolence at www.falconefuneralhome.com

 Anna May Hersee, 90, of East Bethany passed away peacefully on Thursday May 8, 2014 at her residence.  She was born on March 27, 1924 in Clarence Center to the late Clyde (Magdalena) Knapp.  Mrs. Hersee was a long time member of East Bethany Baptist Church.  She loved spending time with her late husband Maurice who preceded her in death on August 28, 1997.    

Anna May is survived by her children Paul (Elaine) Hersee of West Seneca, Roy (Patricia) Hersee of East Bethany, and Ellen (James) Kostanciak of Oakfield; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

There are no prior calling hours.  A celebration of her life will be announced by the family at later date.

Batavia - Judith A. Sobresky, 73, of Batavia, a former resident of Pottstown, PA, died Tuesday (May 6, 2014) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Mrs. Sobresky was born January 30, 1941 in Conshohocken, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Larkin) Ominski.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking fabulous meals, mentoring her grandchildren, flowers and gardening. She devoted her life to her family, and was generous beyond measure. Judy was a confidant and friend to many, offering unconditional love, support and advice. She was a wonderful, fun loving woman who had the ability to see the humor and good in every situation. She was a phlebotomist at the former St. Jerome Hospital in Batavia, and a member of Resurrection Parish. Judy will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Edmund Sobresky of Batavia; four children, Anna (Douglas) Barnard of Byron, Judith Sobresky, Eddie Sobresky, and Kathryn Sobresky all of Batavia; grandchildren, Melissa, Violet, Olivia, Zoe, and Daniel; three brothers, Joseph (Dolores) Ominski of Norfolk, VA, John (Joanne) Ominski of Silver Springs, MD and Dan (Joan) Ominski of Gainesville, FL; three sisters, Suzy (Ben) Million of New Paltz, NY, Toni (Walt) Zapisek of Ben Salem, PA and Joanne (Charlie) Rightnour of Pottstown, PA; her friend of 40 years Mary Lou Grimes and family of Batavia, nieces, nephews, and neighbors.

She is a sister of the late Anna Mendenhall. 

Calling hours are Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Judith’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Resurrection Parish - St. Mary’s Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia.  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.

Norma J. Zinni, 83, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 7, 2014 at United Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 3, 1931 in  Batavia to  the late Clayton and Roslind (Eccleston) Blossom. She is preceded in death by her husband Nicholas F. Zinni who passed away on February 20, 2014. Mrs. Zinni was a longtime member of Ascension Parish-St. Anthony’s. She worked at Batavia High School baking and was known as the “Cookie Lady”. Norma was very unselfish and extremely generous always willing to help anyone that she could. She loved doing ceramics, refinishing furniture and antiquing.   

Norma is survived by her children Nicholas (Ellen); David (Elisa); Vincent (Sabrina); Joseph (Jill) Zinni all of Batavia; Rosanne Zinni of Rochester; Theresa (Paul) McNally of Fairport; sister Catherine Barber of Batavia; 10 grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  

Friends are invited to call on Friday May 9, 2014 from 4 to 8 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia New York 14020. An 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday May 10, 2014 at  Ascension Parish 15 Sumner St. Batavia, New York 14020. She will be entombed in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum in Batavia.

Charles Matthew Glidden, 51 died unexpectedly April 24th at his home in Sanford, North Carolina.

Charlie was born March 5th 1963 in Batavia and was the son of Sawyer Glidden and Dorothy Clay Glidden.

He was a graduate of Batavia High School, Monroe Community College and North Carolina State, were he received his Nuclear Medicine Technician Certification.

Charlie loved his profession, his music and humor. He was a bass player in a number of bands in his lifetime and was playing in two at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sawyer, and his brother, Andy. Survivors include his son, Matthew Ryan Glidden of Fort Sill, Oklahoma; his mother Dorothy, his brothers John (Moira) and Jim (Denise), all of the Batavia area and his nieces Sarah and Emily Glidden.

In honor of Charlie, please tell your friends and family that you love them. A memorial service will be held at Genesee County Park on Saturday May 10th starting at 1 p.m. in Area D -- rain or shine.

DORIS A. SANTERCOLE Age 66, of Kent, NY, died peacefully Saturday morning May 3, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born July 26, 1947 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late George & Josephine (Yannacio) Santercole.

   Doris was a graduate of Villa Maria College of Buffalo, and the State University of New York at Buffalo where she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She was an artist and craftswoman, notably talented in photography, jewelry-making and woodworking. While working at Emma: Women’s Books and Gifts in Buffalo, she became active in the women’s community, taking part in a variety of activities and playing a role in Wild Wimmin Productions, bringing female performers to the Tralfamadore Café.  Doris had a great passion for automobiles, old and new. She loved the water, walking on the beach, swimming in the ocean, watching sailboats, and following the America’s Cup Races. She was one of Disney’s greatest fans, keeping a running list of questions to ask Walt when she met him in heaven. She sang in the Kendall Community Choir, as well as her church choir. She loved pets and had a difficult time turning away any stray. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed cooking and feeding others. 

   Doris is survived by her beloved partner of 33 years, Anna Bayerl of Kent, NY; sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Pittman, Joyce Terrana, Gloria Eileen (John) Bovey along with several nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

   Family and friends are invited to celebrate her Memorial Mass 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 10, 2014 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church 1 East Main Street LeRoy, New York 14482. Memorials in her memory are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

GERALD A. THOMPSON Age 90, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday evening May 2, 2014 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. He was born November 20, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Gerald & Marie (Schuster) Thompson also preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene & Robert and sisters, Patricia Hogan & Gloria Morton.

   Mr. Thompson is a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the North Darien Bible Church, he enjoyed traveling and had a great love for his family.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years, Geraldine (Schleicher) Thompson of Batavia; loving children, Richard (Judy) Thompson of Michigan, Joanne Venema of Corfu and Peggy (late Larry) Walden of Michigan; grandchildren, David "Chip" Walden, Craig Walden, Andrea Thomas, Amanda Clifford, Amy (Brandon) Seliger; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Russell Morton of Michigan along with many nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service for Mr. Thompson 11:30 a.m. Thursday May 8, 2014 at the North Darien Bible Church 9762 Simonds Road Corfu, New York 14036, Military Honors will follow. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.

DAVID S. "CHIEF" HALL - Age 67, of Stafford, died peacefully Saturday morning May 3, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born February 2, 1947 in Buffalo, NY to the late Lawrence and Winifred (Bolton) Hall.

   David was a State Inspector for the New York State Racing/Wagering Board. He will always be remembered for his passion, dedication and love for his family.

   He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Donna (King) Hall of Stafford; beloved father of, Colby (Danielle) Hall of Warrenton, VA; Katherine Hall of Fairfax, VA and Tyler Hall of New Orleans, LA; brother, Steve (Joanne) Hall of Stafford along with several nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of David's Life, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy Main & Clay Streets LeRoy, New York 14482. Marion M. Price, 93, of Varysburg passed away on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital.  She was born April 8, 1921 in Buffalo to the late Wilbur E. (Jean) Getz.  Marion worked at Motorola in Arcade NY.  She loved all animals in general and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and taking cruises all over the world.

Marion is survived by her loving daughter Gail Price of Varysburg, NY.  Cousins James A. (Julia) Tait, Cheryl Tait of Marilla NY, Donald Tait of Welland Ontario, Douglas Tait of New Brunswick, and Robert Tait of St. Catherines Ontario.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday May 6, 2014 from 10AM-1PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main St. Attica, NY 14011 where Funeral Services will follow at 1PM.  She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.

Mary Jane Lazarony, 84, of Batavia, passed away Saturday morning (May 3, 2014) at the Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence, NY.

She was born in Lackawanna, NY on April 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Edward and Helen Tangalder Minich.

Mary enjoyed baking, taking care of her flower gardens, playing with her grandchildren and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabre fan.  Walking with her grandchildren through downtown Batavia was a joy to her.  She cherished her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In 1978 Mary was instrumental in her family ownership of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant in Batavia which was formerly located on East Main Street. She was also a member of Resurrection Parish.

Survivors include her husband of almost 59 years, Horace J. Lazarony Jr., of Batavia.  Daughter, Ruth (Joseph) Jensen of Avon. Sons, David (Mary) Lazarony of Stroudsburg, PA, Horace “Jay” (Donna) Lazarony III of Batavia, Jerome Lazarony of Brunswick, OH and James (Diana) Lazarony of Corfu. Sisters, Margaret Horvath of Lackawanna, Dorothy (Daniel) Losardo of W. Seneca and Shirley Lassel of Buffalo. Brothers, Eugene Minich of Buffalo and Edward (Lucille) Minich of W. Seneca.  Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Charles Minich.
