John D. Williams, 76 of Batavia, NY. Died July 4, 2011 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1934 in Batavia, NY to the late Francis J. (Ruth A. Donahue) Williams. Mr. Williams was retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, an Army Veteran, a member of the DAV, and the Genesee County Police Auxiliary. He played semi pro football for 2 years and was an avid golfer. He is preceded in death by his brother Donald F. Williams, sisters Patricia Epke, Jayne Mason, Ruth Kowalik and Mary E. Luce.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Florence (Olmstead) Williams of Batavia, son John D. (Colette) Williams II of Maine, daughters Charise (James) Donahue of Batavia, Peggy (Daniel) McComb of Batavia, Christine Boyce of Rochester, Sandy Cory of Akron and Susan Stone of Akron. Also brothers James A. (Katherine) Williams, Lawrence Williams both of Batavia, sister in law Teresa Williams of Attica and brother in law John Kowalik of Batavia, who survive along with 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday July 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM  at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia New York 14020. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Avenue, Batavia, New York.

Walter E. Zielinski, 92, of Batavia, died Monday (July 4, 2011) at New York State Veterans Nursing Home in Batavia.

He was born in Batavia on November 7, 1918, a son of the late Vincent and Eleanor Twadowski Zielinski. 

Mr. Zielinski was a U.S. Army Veteran having served with the infantry in the European Theatre during WWII.   He was retired from the former Doehler-Jarvis Co. where he was a process inspector.  He devoted thousands of hours volunteering at Genesee County Nursing Home for over 37 years.  Many of his photo's of Backward Glances of Batavia were published by the Batvia Daily News. He enjoyed collecting post cards and historic photo's of Genesee County.  Walter was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church and the Holy Name Society.

Surviving is his wife of over 64 years, Gladys L. Pigula Zielinski whom he married on September 14, 1946. Two daughters and sons in law; Karen and Charles Hamill of and Patricia and Robert McJury all of Fairport.A sister in law, Mary Wozniak of Batavia.  Three grand daughters: Abigail and Stephanie McJury and Amy Hamill. Nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. 

He is the brother of the late; Adeline Kisiel, Alfred and Anthony Zielinski.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 3 - 7 PM at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC., 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA,  where prayers will be Thursday at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Ascension Parish, (Sacred Heart Church).  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.

The Sacred Heart Holy Name Society will recite the Rosary at 3PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Tanina “Ida” Barone, 98 of Batavia. Died peacefully Sunday July 3, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at United Memorial Medical Center. Born January 4, 1913 in Rochester, NY to the late Frank (Anna Simonetti) DiPiazza Mrs. Barone became woman of the household at 15 upon the death of her mother to take care of her father and brothers. It was during this time she learned to bake bread and lovingly passed her recipe along to her nieces and daughter. She will be greatly missed at weekly Sunday dinners where a place left vacant at the table will be filled by wonderful memories of her in her family’s hearts. “Ida” as she was known to her family and friends enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy where she met and married her husband in 1950 while visiting family in Sicily with her father. She was employed by Doehler-Jarvis for 30 years before retiring in 1968. Tanina was a member of the Red Hat Society, the “Lets go Girls” and enjoyed collecting Red Hat memorabilia. She was also a longtime member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s Church). She was predeceased by her brothers Vito and Gasper DiPiazza.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years Peter; beloved daughter and son in law Marguerite (Epi) Badami, the joys of her life her grandsons Vinnie, Peter and Michael Badami. “Granddaughter” Crystal and “Great Granddaughter” Lexia Davis survive along with many nieces and nephews. 

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday July 6, 2011 from 4 to 8 PM at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:30 AM at Resurrection Parish-St. Mary’s Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Entombment will take place in the Msgr. Francis Schwartz Mausoleum in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Lemley was born on September 6, 1918 a daughter of the late James and Grace Gallipaeu Ellis. She worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill, Robeson Cutlery in Castile, Archway Cookies, and retired in 1982 from Holcomb School (SUNY Geneseo) where she was a supervisor in the school cafeteria. She was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Joseph’s Church in Perry, the Catholic Women of the Church, and the Perry Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking, often making baked goods for the church bazaar and having them bought up by the late John Matson before they reached the church. She enjoyed camping, traveling, especially on a trip where she flew over the Grand Canyon, golfing and crocheting. She was an adventurous lady always trying something new, she learned to ride an bicycle and to swim when she was in her forties. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Mrs. Lemely is preceded in death by her husband whom she married in April of 1939 Frank Clyde Lemley he died in 1982, a son Joseph D. Lemley, 6 brothers: Leonard, Walter, John, Herbert, Edward, and Roy Ellis, 2 sisters: Ruth Barnhardt, and Rita Losey, and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by a son Jerome D. (Mary) Lemley of Wyoming, 3 daughters: Diane E. (Robert) Kneeppel of Perry, Patricia A. (Jakob) Rewa of Perry, and Leota M. Lemley (Wayne Comstock) of Rochester, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
 

Friends are invited to call on Sunday July 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry, NY 14530. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 4th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish-St. Joseph’s Church 8 Park St. Perry, NY 14530. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Perry.
