Nellie B. Coughlin

Nellie B. Coughlin, 92, of Elba passed away peacefully on Friday July 19, 2019 at Crossroads House in Batavia surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 31, 1927 in Elba to the late Paul and Louise (Jancy) Gavel. In addition to her parents, Nellie is predeceased by her husband; D. Lyman Coughlin; brothers John, Frank, Joe and Paul Gavel; sisters Mary Markwica, Frances Wantuck, Helen Karas and Ann Karas.

Nellie graduated from Brockport State College then went on to teach kindergarten in Elba for 22 years and P.E. for 2 years. She was a longtime member of Padre Pio Parish and member of Home Bureau. Nellie enjoyed bowling, knitting and reading.

She is survived by her children; Judy Salway of VA., Daniel (Kristin) Coughlin Jr. of Elba, Denise (Ed) Marsceill of Elba and Colleen (Elton) Shuknecht of Elba;; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00-8:00PM on Thursday July 25, 2019 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 26^th at St. Padre Pio Parish 65 South Main St. Elba, NY 14125. Nellie will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery.
