JOHN J. STUCKO, JR.

JOHN J. STUCKO, JR. ~ Age 89, of Elba, died peacefully Saturday September 28, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born in Albion, NY on January 24, 1930, a son of the late John J. and Florence (Zwiefka) Stucko, Sr. also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sophia (Jacek) Stucko in 2017.

Mr. Stucko served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Wisconsin which not long ago his grandson was re-enlisted on. He worked for many years at GTE Sylvania prior to its closing and retired from Genesee Community College. He was a longtime member of St. Padre Pio Parish in Elba, member of the VFW and former member of the Elba Volunteer Fire Dept. John loved to fish, hunt and be outdoors, especially the Adirondack Mountains namely “The Flow.” He was an amazing woodworker and carver, he prospected for “gold” with his son-in-law in Alaska and was a fantastic cook and baker. Many in the area will attest to his delicious homemade Rye Bread that he would drop off on his, “Bread Route.”

He is survived by his beloved children, Marty (Amy) Stucko of Elba; Jim Stucko of Oakfield and Zoe (Dell) Jeffery of Newcomb, NY; cherished grandchildren, Meg and Collin Stucko, Nick (Megan) Stucko, John (Hannah) Stucko, Nathan (Jess) Jeffery, Jess (Eric) Ackerson; great-grandson, Wyatt Jeffery; sisters, Mary Allen of Rochester and Marcia (Phil) Ciarico of Albion.

Please join the Stucko family on Friday October 4, 2019 to Celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial 4p.m. at St. Padre Pio Parish (Elba Site). He will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors and in lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the church or Crossroads House PO Box 403 Batavia, New York 14021.
