FRED P. SARACENI - Age 90, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday afternoon February 6, 2014 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. He was born March 9, 1923 in Batavia to the late Arthur and Amelia (Soccio) Saraceni, also preceded in death by his siblings, Jimmy, Thomas, Germaine, Mary, Beatrice & Betty.

Mr. Saraceni was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Resurrection Parish. He was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator at Soccio & Dellapenna and also worked for the railroad and Agway of Batavia. He loved tending to his yard and garden, enjoyed riding his snowmobile and Sunday afternoon car rides. His joy was his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years whom he married on Nov. 29, 1941 in St. Joseph's Church, Leroy, Josephine (Anzalone) Saraceni of Batavia; loving children, Alfred (Jane) Saraceni, Arthur Saraceni, Karen Woods all of Batavia, Amy (James) Thompson of FL and Germaine (Robert) Osborne of Oakfield; brother, Anthony "Red" (Marcie) Saraceni of Batavia; sisters, Fannie Copani of Caledonia, Yolanda (Harry) Bucceri of Oakfield, Ann (Ronald ) Penepent of Batavia and Roseanne (Donald) Showler of LeRoy; brother-in-law, Ross Anzalone of LeRoy; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.

Family and friends may visit from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday February 9, 2014 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited 9:00 a.m. Monday February 10 followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrections Parish (St. Mary's Site). Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Military Honors and in lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Memory Unit at the Genesee County Nursing Home 1st Floor 278 Bank Street Batavia, New York 14020.

Dean E. Nichols, 85 of Bergen, died Thursday February 6, 2014 at his home surrounded by family. He was born April 6, 1928 in East Bethany to the late Floyd (Charlotte Adams) Nichols. Mr. Nichols was a United States Army Veteran. He worked for many years at Trojan in Batavia and was a member of Stone Church Presbyterian. He is preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy J. Nichols.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne E. (Callan) Nichols of Bergen; sons Robert D. (Lisa) of Riga; Douglas F. (Martha) of Stafford; daughter Barbara J. of Barker; step children Edward (Barbara) of Batavia; James (Mary Jean) of IL; Laura (Patrick) of Bennington; David (Mary), Charles (Maria), Timothy all of Batavia; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday February 9, 2014 from 2 to 4 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest in Stone Church Cemetery, Bergen.

CAROLYN J. CECERE Age 62, of Brockport died Tuesday January 21, 2014 at the East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw. She was born November 25, 1951 in Batavia, NY to the late Edward and Julia (Rossi) Spink.

   Carolyn was formerly employed at Rochester Orthopedics, was very artistically talented, enjoyed the History Channel, roses and had a great love for her grandchildren.

   Surviving is her loving daughter, Jacqueline Cecere and her grandchildren, Tyler & Isabell Alwardt; step-father, Wyman Spink of LeRoy; brother, Edward (Ruth) Spink of Medina; sister, Delores (Brian) Laliberte of CT along with a niece, Courtney and nephew, Stephen.

   There is no prior visitation and funeral services will be held privately by the family. Memorials in Carolyn's memory be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.

David H. Colton, 72, of Akron, passed away Monday (February 3, 2014) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville.

He was born in Newfane, NY on March 31, 1941, a son of the late Leon and Elizabeth Barbas Colton.

David was a production worker for General Motors in Lockport prior to his retirement.  He was a member of the WNY 2 Cylinder Club, WNY Gas & Steam Assoc. and enjoyed woodworking and John Deere Tractors.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends whom he loved spending time with.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Judy Fiegel Colton of Akron. Two daughters, Kelly Colton of Akron and Keri (Kelly) Page of East Bethany.  Two grandchildren, Garrett Page and Lydia Page of East Bethany.  Three sisters, Naomi (late Bud) Hulme of Buffalo, Betty (late Alphonso) Killion of Lockport and Virginia (late Kenneth) Swan of Lockport.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his foster parents, Karl and Aleda Kruse and several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share memories, condolences and thoughts on Friday (Feb. 7th) from 5-8pm at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, LLC, 32 John St., Akron.  Funeral services will take place Saturday, 11am at the funeral home.

Mari Elan Buszka, 80, of Batavia, passed away Monday (February 3, 2014) at her residence.

She was born July 14, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Konstanty and Clara Weglikowski Chrostowski.

Mari was a school teacher at Pioneer Central school in Arcade prior to her retirement. Mari was also a member of Resurrection Parish in Batavia

She is survived by her son, Jay Mario Buszka and a cousin, Carol (Kenneth) Fox of Clarence Center.

There will be no prior visitation.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date with interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Buffalo.

THOMAS P. BRZYSKI Age 67, of Batavia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 3, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born January 19, 1947 in Cheektowaga, NY, to the late Edward R. and Elma (Jordan) Brzyski.

   Mr. Brzyski is a US Air Force Veteran and was employed by Conrail for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and antiqueing. A real sports enthusiast and New England Patriots fan.  

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 47 years, Maryan (Zielonka) Brzyski of Batavia; cherished daughters, Darlene (Christopher) Miller of Corfu and their children, Matthew (Laura), Amy (Kevin Schildwaster) & Morgan; Jody (Miguel Contreras-Pinto) Swable and their children, Sydney & Olivia of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Linda (Larry) Gangler of Fillmore, NY and Michelle (Jeff) Kawa of Darien; great-grandson, Isaac along with many nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends may visit from 3-7 p.m. on Friday February 7, 2014 at the Michael S. IRENE MAY CLARKDaughter of Thomas and Linda (Neuburger) Clark died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at her home in Brewer, Maine. She was 37. Irene was born October 10, 1976 in Albany, NY.

   Irene attended Genesee Community College and was a graduate of Brockport State College with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She worked for several Human Service Agencies in the Rochester area before moving to Maine to continue working in the field. Social media helped Irene keep in touch with her many friends in Western New York and beyond. Over the years Irene shared her home with many pets especially her beloved dog, Findley. Her passions included crafts, scrapbooking, reading and movies. She loved keeping up with the activities of all her nieces and nephews. Her life was guided by her strong conviction in equality for all people. 

   Surviving along with her parents are her loving sisters, Catherine (William) Wrigley of Ridgewood, NY and their children, Felix & Gabby; Jeanette (Marc Bzduch) Clark of Bergen and their children, Dante, Devyn, Alexandre, Alice, and Blaze; Sharon Clark of Boston along with aunts and uncles, Beverly Delillo, James (Judy) Clark, Mary Johnston and Diane (John) McFarland.

   A time of visitation and Celebration of Irene's Life will be announced at a future date. The family suggests that memorials in Irene's memory may be made to a Humane Society in their region.

Pavilion ~ Frederick R. Hackett, age 93, of York Road, passed away on Monday morning (Feb. 3, 2014) at Unity Hospital in Rochester.

     Mr. Hackett was born September 27, 1920 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, a son of the late William and Edith Kellner Hackett.

     He will be remembered as a very caring and loving family man, who enjoyed camping, farming and being involved with ham radios.

     Mr. Hackett is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Dorothy Rossborough Hackett, his six children; Darleen (Ronald) Rodgers of Warsaw, Sherrie (Thomas) Logsdon of MI, Timothy (Helena) Hackett of Spencerport, Rebecca Hackett of Pavilion, Jane Hackett of Batavia and Michael (Laurie) Hackett of Pavilion, daughter in law, Ann Hackett of Pavilion,  brother, Terry Hackett of TX, two sisters, Barbara Krigboun of CA and Nancy Dell of FL, brother in law, Charles Longhany of LeRoy, along with 23 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his “extended family”, as he and his wife opened their home as foster parents to many children over the years. 

     He was predeceased by a son, David Hackett, granddaughter, Marybeth James, great-granddaughter, Abby Logsdon,  brother and sister in law, Jack and Evelyn Hackett, two sisters and a brother in law, Delores and Manny Bolsei and Carole Longhany, and a brother in law, William Dell.

     Friends may call on the family on Saturday from 1 ~ 4 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt 19), LeRoy, where funeral services will be held at  4 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pavilion Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 156, Pavilion, N.Y. 14525.

Jessie E. (Bonning) Wilcox, 89, of Corfu, passed away on Saturday (February 1, 2014) in her home.

Mrs. Wilcox was born in Jackson Township, PA, a daughter of the late Dennis and Margaret Boothe Bonning. She was a graduate of Lake Lehman High School and Nesbitt Hospital School of Nursing.

Jessie was the loving mother of Patricia Gellman, Barbara Rathmann and Charles Wilcox; grandmother of Scott Gellman, Abbie Gellman, Rebecca Gellman Corrine (Kent) Rathmann-Cooke, Allison Rathmann and Allie Wilcox; one great grandchild, Olivia DeNooijer. Jessie is also survived by a brother, Dennis Bonning Jr. of Jackson Township, PA.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 - 6 East Main Street, Corfu. Burial will follow at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Corfu, NY.

ROSELLA R. NOBLE Age 88, of Batavia, died peacefully Saturday afternoon February 1, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1926 in Clarion, PA to the late Clarence and Bertha (McClain) Madill, also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Beryl Charles Noble in 1991; daughter, Nancy Noble-Zack in 2008; brother, Jerry Madill and sister, Constance Wassell.

  Mrs. Noble was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Batavia, where she was also a Pioneer Girls leader. She enjoyed and taught ceramics, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading. A member of the DAR (Daughter's of the American Revolution), Mrs. Noble had a great love for her family and a strong faith in the Lord.

   She is survived by her loving children, BC Noble of Batavia, Rosemary (Irwin) Crosby of S. Byron, Carolynn (Richard) Sharpe of Batavia, Barbara (James) Haralson of Texas, Sharon (Craig) Angst and Alice (Brian) McFerron all of Arkansas; brothers, Thomas (Debbie) Madill of Buffalo; sisters, Carol (Ellsworth "Chubby") Norton of Elba and Susan (David) Kinsman of Arkansas; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends may visit from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday February 6, 2014 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday February 7 at the Grace Baptist Church 238 Vine Street Batavia with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the church.
