James G. Cudney

Byron - James G. Cudney, age 77, died on Feb. 3, 2020 at Monroe Community Hospital in Rochester.

He was born Nov. 3, 1942 in Batavia, first son of Glenn W. Cudney and Mildred J. Newcomb.   He was predeceased by his parents and his youngest brother, Gerald W. Cudney of Florida.

He is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Barbara A. (Chapman) Cudney whom he married on June 17, 1967.  One brother, Kenneth G. (Barbara J.) Cudney of Florida; a sister-in-law, Nancy Cudney of Florida, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jim was a Switch Technician at Rochester Telephone Co. for 34 years and and also at Adelphia Communications in Buffalo for 5 years.   He was a Life Member of Genesee County Fish and Game Prot. Association, a Life member of Telephone Pioneers and Local 1170 CWA.   He served from 1964 until 1966 as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war.   His pastimes included hunting deer and fishing in Canada with his group of best buds.   In retirement he served his community as Councilman of Byron for 5 years and Chairman of the ZBA for 4 years.  He was involved with several committees in Byron.  He was a member of the Leroy Historical Society and enjoyed local history.

At his request there will be no calling hours.   A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring with burial in the North Byron Cemetery and a military honor guard.

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice.
