ESTHER JEANETTE GRAY

ESTHER JEANETTE GRAY ~ Age 67, of Elba, went home to be with our Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning May 27, 2020 at home while under the care of Hospice and her loving family. She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on April 26, 1953 to the late William and June (Reetz) Miller also preceded in death by siblings, Keneth R. Miller, William Miller, Roger Miller, and Donna Kapan.

Esther graduated from Genesee Community College as a Registered Nurse after raising her children and worked at many area nursing homes as a Nurse Supervisor. Esther was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Elba for the last 48 years, teaching Sunday School, Bible Club and Vacation Bible School for the Junior Church. She also volunteered on the social committee, in the children’s nursery and as the missionary secretary at the church.

Esther loved knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Her handcrafted items were made for many church activities, All Babies Cherished, Elba Central School Glove Drive and Operation Shoe Box Ministry.

Surviving is her beloved husband of 48 years, David Lee Gray of Elba; loving daughter, Dorothy Gray De Roque of Elba and her children, Angelica R. (Celso Vasquez) Acosta, Emiliano Acosta and Guillermo Roque Gray; Esther and David raised Lisa Hodgins and Dorothy (Patrick) McNutt; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Epidemic a Celebration of Esther’s life for family and friends will be announced in the future. Memorials in her memory are suggested to Crossroads House PO Box 403 Batavia, NY 14021.
