Barbara A. DeFazio

Bergen ~ Barbara A. DeFazio, age 70, of Kaymar Drive, passed away at home unexpectedly on Monday afternoon (June 8, 2020)

    

 She was born October 30, 1949 in Rochester, a daughter of Louise Schmitt Gross and the late Joseph Gross.

     Barbara will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many.  She was not only devoted to her family, but had a strong devotion to her faith.  She was a longtime custodian and sacristan at St. Brigid Church in Bergen, as well as a longtime lector and Eucharistic Minister and also lead the rosary before each mass. She was a member of the St. Brigid Folk Group, where she played guitar for 28 years from 1976 - 2004. Barbara was also a retiree of the Byron-Bergen Central School District, where she was a longtime elementary school library aide.

     She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Salvatore C. DeFazio; son, Brian (Kristi) S. DeFazio; granddaughter, Lily Ann DeFazio; grandson, Benjamin Brian DeFazio; mother, Louise Gross; father-in-law, John C. DeFazio; brothers, John (Susan) Gross, Paul (Debra) Gross and James (Ann) Gross, along with many nieces and nephews.

     She was predeceased by her father, Joseph C. Gross, mother-in-law, Rose DeFazio and granddaughters, Melanie Lynn DeFazio and Kaelynn Brianna DeFazio.

     Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 14 from 1 ~ 4 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., (Rt. 19), LeRoy. (Funeral home occupancy will be limited to 25% capacity during the course of visitation and face masks will be required.)  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 15 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Brigid Church, 18 Gibson St., Bergen, with interment to follow in St. Brigid Cemetery. (The funeral mass will be celebrated outside behind the church.  People attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair if possible.)
